Those fashionable white lab coats made another appearance at the White House Wednesday. President Obama was joined at the podium and in the audience by doctors, nurses and other health care professionals wearing their white hospital coats when he urged Congress to pass health care insurance reform.

Last October, 150 doctors wearing their signature uniforms were also present at the White House for another health care pep talk. But some forgot their white coats and had to use ones provided by the White House.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

A helluva lot cheaper than using an aircraft carrier.

Good point. But making doctors wear provided lab coats? What do you think of that? (could you please form your answer in a way that doesn't include GWB)

True.

I was about to type something about town hall meetings with planted audience members but I'm guessing that's not the answer you want. :P

As long as they are real doctors and they stand behind the President's plan, then I don't have a problem if Obama ironed the lab coats himself. It's not false advertising...just polishing the silver.

It's more silly than scandalous.

I'd agree.

More nurses!

That's right. Under pay 'em and under dress 'em. I can envision a mob of angry nurses with pitchforks and torches heading over to your house right now, Bill.
