Hello fellow members,

I would appreciate any info you can share. We got a co sponsor just in case.. and she is my husband's sister who do not live with us but a US citizen living in the same state we live.

Questions:

1. Is my husband's sister who makes more than $50k a year (NO dependent) qualified to be our co sponsor even if she does not live with us?

2. Is it true that once I get my citizenship my kids also becomes a citizen or they still have to apply for their citizenship( if they come here on an IR1 visa)?

3. What are the requirements for a co sponsor? does she needs to fill out thhe I-864A?

4.is the affidavit of support of the petitioner and the co- sponsor needs to be notarized?

Thank you so much in advance.

If she is an USC/LPR, who lives in the US, and is over 18, then yes.

2. Is it true that once I get my citizenship my kids also becomes a citizen or they still have to apply for their citizenship( if they come here on an IR1 visa)?

Not sure on this - they probably have to do something to obtain it. (better answer to follow)

3. What are the requirements for a co sponsor? does she needs to fill out thhe I-864A?

Same requirements as for the primary sponsor. They only fill out the 864A if they are in the same household.

4.is the affidavit of support of the petitioner and the co- sponsor needs to be notarized?

Depends what version you are using, mostly "no", but the old I-134 and 864A needs to be notarized as per their instructions.

Thank you so much in advance.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

Thank you so my co -sponsor will fill out the I-864 not the I-864A since she does not live with us,am i right?

That is correct :)

The primary sponsor fills out an I-864, completely, and the joint (not technically "co") sponsor also fills out an I-864, completely, each with their own financial information.

Only difference is in the check boxes on the first page where the joint checks "I am the only joint sponsor" where the primary checks "I am the primary sponsor." Other than that, it's just the same.

DON'T PANIC

For the joint sponsor signing an I864A -- what additional proof is required?

Do I have this correct:

--Proof of USC (USC Passport/BC)

--Proof of relationship to primary sponsor (Primary sponsor's BC to show relationship to father).

--Proof of same mailing address (Tax returns).

Anything else?
