Perhaps, but I prefer not to associate with those. Like I have told my kids many times ... if you dont want trouble it helps to stay away from trouble.

Since you think you are such an intelligent, well reasoned person, I assume you live in the areas which enforce gun laws in the strongest sense..... you might also note they are often the least safe.

--------------------

I actually think this is a -non factor story, in my life I think I have seen maybe two or three people open carry.

As I recall those were in outdoors type settings.

If this is a "movement" it is pretty small.

As far as I have heard there have been no problems with people with open carry, if there should a problem develop I would expect each state deal with it as needed.

I would be a lot less likely to rob any establishment if I knew 5% of the people on the street have a gun on their hip.

In fact I would be less likely to do a lot of criminal things.

I think the problem is, some Americans and most outsiders don't realize guns are everywhere in the country and thank God there is no undoing that.

Any European-style answer you have only works in the favor of the criminal.... and we have seen that.

The USA is a big, diverse country and different states will have laws which best suit them and the will of those people.

One of the great things is, you can most often find "your kind of people" in at least one part of the country, go there and enjoy, stop trying to change everyone else.

I don't think your arguments go very well when you try to imagine what would stop you from engaging in criminal activity.

I have this picture of you in your basement planning out the perfect crime, only to stop yourself just in time when you realize that the % of people on the streets with a gun on their hip is just over your limit

First of all, I wish I had a basement, as it is I must do this planning in my bonus-room which kinda kills the whole mood you were talking about. :)

But take note MC... VERY FEW GUN SHOPS have hold-ups.

But don't let that stop you, tell us how it works... you who have not only never committed a crime but have never seen one.

Danno, living life in a bubble is living apart from the normal community, I certainly live in the normal community. I have lived in all kinds of cities and towns, some small, some large. I have lived in more rural setting as well. I have engaged in all aspects of normal life, gone out into the streets at all times of the day and night, visited shops, schools, leisure facilities, hospitals and churches. My life in no way, shape or form resembles any kind of protected environment sheltered from 'real' people. Yet, I have not been involved in type of criminal activity. How strange that is, eh Danno?

One example .... what about the family that wants to attend a public event but can't because of fear of all the crazy gun toters that will be there.

That is one of the dumbest things I've read.

That family will be scared everywhere they go for their entire lives then.....cause unless the liberals have their say, the 2nd ammendment will allow people to carry their firearm.
