Hello everybody,

I’ve just spent more money then I wanted to (again! is it me or does it seem that you always have to wait 5minutes!!!! ) phoning the US Embassy (London) asking about my fiancé attending the interview with me as she is flying over that week. just spoke to a nice enough but very serious (and a little hard to understand) Scottish man who told me to email the Embassy and supply my case no# etc. and explain that I wish for her to attend and she would be added to the list. The problem is im not 100% sure I took down the email address right! And I don’t want to waste more money phoning them back up. Has anyone done this recently? Can you confirm the @ddress?

I wrote it down: londoniv@state.gov

I’d appreciate any confirmation as I presume the code they give you only works once and probably expires after 2day.

Thanks VJ'ers

Maybe things have changed, but when I was contemplating going over for Nik's interview, it was

londonconsular@state.gov

So the @ part is right at least. Sorry if this info throws a wrench into things. :( Maybe try including both addresses in the to field.

londoniv@state.gov

This is the second time this week I have seen reference to this heretofore unknown email address...hmmmm. I would echo Heather's advice and address it to both londoniv@state.gov and londonconsular@state.gov for good measure.

Just so you know, in the past USC fiances and spouses have generally been allowed entry to the Embassy (indeed, I was there with my husband for his interview). On maybe two occasions there have been reports of the USC being turned away, and there didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to this. In fact, the day after one VJer was turned away, another USC was allowed in! I'd reckon it's almost certain you will be allowed in. :)

haha :) I experienced these three things last week!

1. I had an Irish lady and ended up spending 20 pounds because I had to have her repeat everything a million times!

2. The email the extortion line is giving IS londonIV@state.gov, and that IS the email I eventually got a reply from.

can I just email that address with our case number and receive a response? Or do I need to call the number first and get one of those separate email code things first? If so what number do I call?

I need to try to either move our date forward a week, or get my son added to the list as well - as hes off school the week of our interview. everyone is away so hes got to come with us! :)

You have to call the so-called 'extortion line' (because it costs >£1/min) and they give you the code to put in the subject line.

The number is 09042-450-100

Thanks for confirming that ohlpomr. There's only so many times i felt i could ask him to repeat himself without sounding like an idiot or appearing rude  ! Silly mistake on my part really, as it kind of made the call a waste of money. Do you or anyone else know if the code is still good? As it’s been a few days now since I’ve i received it! Also im surprised to hear you got a response the guy told me they wouldn’t.

Right, so I have just called, got a code, and emailed them with questions. Will they actually reply? I asked if there were any cancellations, to please move our date forward a week - and otherwise to add my sons name to the list to enter with us since the people meant to be watching him will be away on holiday.

Has anyone that has emailed gotten a reply from the embassy? And if so, how long did you wait to receive one? :)

Many thanks :)

As you've probably read in the above thread i was unsure as to which email address to send my request to. As i thought i couldn’t hurt i sent it to both (as recommended by others) I almost straight away got a automated response from the main email address (the one i believe you might want) londonconsular@state.gov

And as ive been writing this ive just had a personal response from londonIV@state.gov it couldnt hurt to email them both

Just wondering if you managed to get an earlier appointment, HelloJulie, since anything to cut some waiting time off when we get to that stage would be great :D
