My husband and I got married on Sept. 21,2009 while he was here on a visit from Australia. I received a letter in the mail today from CIS saying the the I-130 petition had been approved. We have tried to do some research to know what to expect, but I'm worried maybe we haven't understood things right. Can anyone tell me what to expect from this point on and approximately how long the rest of the process will take? Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated.

It's a lot easier to help if you fill in your time line.

You already received your NOA2?

Next your case will go to NVC - if your "Filed for" status is correct, then the I-129F will most likely arrive with the I-130. The I-129F will be administratively closed and sent back to USCIS, since as of Feb. 1st they are no longer processing the K-3.

How long you are at NVC has a lot to do with you. Follow the NVC shortcuts in the guide to get through as quickly as possible. Others here can give you more details since I'm still not yet approved @ USCIS.

Not too much help, I know, but some info at least?

Welcome - congratulations - and good luck! :)

hi kim_n_ron i think first of all you understand the whole process the first step you can take is i-130 petation you filed i-130 petation for your husband or wife is the first step for your cr1 ir1 visa process

2 step when your uscis finally approved your i-130 petation and uscis transfer your petation to national visa center this is your second step

3 and your thirt step is when nvc send you affit daffit of support document and other bills to your usa maling address is up to you how fast you pay all the bills when you pay all the bill then your process begin again

4 step when you clear all the bills then nvc invite your husband or wife home country to applay for cr1 ir1 visa when your husband fill up all the form and send back to nvc

5 and then nvc return back all document australian usa embassy to make interview schedule with your husband or wife the whole process take minimum 8 to 10 month and maximum 11 to 15 month

and when your husband or wife got visa finally and move to usa and he got his green card 45 to 90 days depend on your maling service

if you have any other question you can feel free to ask me

Firstly, welcome to VJ :)

Here is the Aussie page: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=183541

Just today actually we were discussing the CR-1 process for Australia in this post: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...t&p=3765129 and then following down from there.

It's important to remember that while the paperwork is roughly the same as other countries, Australia will process the documents in a different manner to other countries (just like with K1).. not because Australia is ODD, but because most countries do things a little different from each other (in terms of the order of filing etc) so while some people's advice MIGHT be okay (if they're from a different country) when they're talking about the order of filing, or fee prices (like medical or police checks which are country specific), they can often be wrong.

Hopefully the links I posted helps you out a little.

Good luck with the rest of the process :)
