I'm all for licensing, and think the background checks can be handled on a 'pass/fail' system that can 'be done' in 30 minutes or less via a AVR, by a licensed gun dealer punching the buttons.

I think if you inherited a weapon, you should register it, pay a small fee.

I'm a fan of 'turn in yer stolen weapons, get a cash voucher' program .

If you have need to carry concealed weapon, you should pass a 'shooting test' every six months. Fail it? Lose the concealed carry permit. (not the gun, though).

I'll never say 'do away with all guns' - as there's a class of criminal that I have no issues with shooting, and new generations of 'that class' keep popping up.

[The above was specific to Texas, but could be used in all 50 states]

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Natty - YUP ! IMO, doesn't matter, the number of guns you can own. Each one is licensed to you.
