My brother in law was at my wedding and is a american citizen but recently got his citizen ship about a year and a half ago. is it ok that we can use him for an affidavit? my husband says that it is not because he is a new citizen and could lie. my point is anyone can lie but will it be ok that we use him as well?

absolutely , in my case my father-in-law and mother-in-law , along with other family friends provided the affidavits , there is no better affidavit than a family member ... my personal opinion

my husband is the alien so because of that his brother is as well but he is an american citizen so is it still good because my husband doesn't think that it is. He thinks his brother's word isn't as good as what it should be because he is an immigrant and not a natural born american i said that it doesn't matter.

I also agree that the strongest affadavit is from a family member - especially if s/he attended the wedding. My mother wrote one on our behalf.

It has nothing to do with being a born american citizen and a naturalized citizen , my in-laws are also not american born citizens , they came to this country in 1960 ..my wife is an american born citizen and so is my brother-in-law

Affidavits from family members are the best affidavits that one can provide

Do you think if me and my wife would have a bad marriage my in-laws (her parents ) would even bother to provide an affidavit ?

once you are naturalized, there is no such thing as "new" and "old" citizen... this would be called discrimination
