It's quite relevant.

When more people are dying than being born to replace them...... generally speaking they not only vanish... but so do the ideas they believe in.

NOw perhaps you think the New Europeans, will grow to embrace the, rights of Homosexuals..... I guess it's possible that in this one area the Immigrants "will" become Euro-minded, but I doubt it, especially as they see its culture shriveling up and passing away.

Slow down..... and read what I actually wrote. I never said gays are causing a change in birth rates ( though I think one could make a case for a small effect).

Remember- Every wave is new until it breaks, and then another one comes.

I don't see how you can say it's relevant in one breath, then say that you were never making that point to begin with.

Since you brought it up in this thread, I'm assuming you're drawing a parallel. Unless your point is self admittedly completely irrelevant to this thread?

But my point is that whether or not gays can marry will not affect the birth rate one way or another. They're here, they're #######. Get used to it. ;)

Birth rate has nothing to do with whether same sex marriage is legal or not. The data was presented to you not too long ago. Most notably, two countries that have or are about to legalize same sex marriage have birth-rates significantly higher than the US.

US: 13.8

South Africa: 19.9

Nepal: 23.2

And let us not forget that without a stream of new immigrants from south of the border, our birthrate would be more in the range of Spain, Canada, Norway, The Netherlands and Belgium - all of which are countries where same sex marriage is legal today. After all, about a quarter of the births in the US are solely attributable to our Hispanic population - the majority of which comes from Mexico. And as if that wasn't enough, now hold on to your seat for this: last Thursday, Gay marriage law came into effect in Mexico City making it legal for same sex partners to tie the knot in one of the most Catholic nations in the world. So, I'd say the long term prospects to end discrimination based on sexual orientation aren't all that bad, my friend. That's where I'd put my money but by all means, Danno, do invest into the losing side of history.

Yeah, It's okay to unwad your panties now.

Danno, a dying breed? Now you have done it. Danno will take that as licence to procreate at every possible opportunity!

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

"Society" has not decided that. Science did.

(Maybe I should have put "science" in quotes because you probably think it's some hokey dogma.)

Because you're a dying breed, Danno.

Not to hijack the thread but has science really determined when a baby is really a baby? For instance, the way the law is written in the UK, you could claim that the UK defines a baby as a pregnancy older than 24 weeks. In the US, each state has a different time.

That strategy bears the risk, of course, of having a homosexual offspring. These things do happen. Just ask one of the most unlikely supporters of same sex marriage: ####### Cheney.

It's hard to believe you would dare list these two countries as an examples of healthy thriving societies which we would want to look to for guidance or enlightenment on this issue.

For instance, lets see what the fact book tells us about Napal. (wondering what percentage of peps could even find it on a map)

Nepal is among the poorest and least developed countries in the world, with almost one-third of its population living below the poverty line. Agriculture is the mainstay of the economy, providing a livelihood for three-fourths of the population and accounting for about one-third of GDP. Industrial activity mainly involves the processing of agricultural products, including pulses, jute, sugarcane, tobacco, and grain. During the global recession of 2009, remittances from foreign workers abroad increased 47% to $2.8 billion while tourist arrivals only decreased 1% compared to the previous year. Nepal has considerable scope for exploiting its potential in hydropower, with an estimated 42,000 MW of feasible capacity, but political instability hampers foreign investment. Additional challenges to Nepal's growth include its technological backwardness, landlocked geographic location, civil strife and labor unrest, and its susceptibility to natural disaster.

But you are correct, they do have a vigorous baby making populous. :P

AS for anyone being on the losing side of history, I think your Eurocentrism, is on quite a display.

That somehow you are going to lead the rest of the world into the light of history...... get real.

These very one-way view points pushed on others are what "could" usher in a back lash against the very people you seem to be so concerned about.

Don't just talk about history... READ IT.

This vilifying those who have genuine objections is just wrong.

IF the time comes when a majority of people want various definitions of marriage, let them vote on it, I certainly have always been willing to settle these questions in a democratic way.

What more could you want?

No problem, VW told us that real gays do not actually want gay marriage, it's only spineless, amoral liberals that want to foist it on them. Any gay Danno breeds will be a gay of the 'right sort'.

Agreed.

As should be clear by the graphic below, that's just a matter of time. The victories of the anti-GM crowd are the last hurrahs of a generation that is (thankfully) dying off.

What's hard to believe is that you would make an argument as ridiculous as "look at those same sex marriage countries and what kind of a decline they are in - look at their birth rates" and then get all flustered when your bull is called out. One has nothing to do with the other. Got it?

I want people to not be arbitrarily denied some of their most basic rights. What if a majority of the country thought that importing brides and grooms wasn't that good an idea. Would you say, oh well, gotta find someone else to marry then and hope that someday a majority of people will be kind enough to allow me to marry who I really want to marry.

Cali voted on it twice, but they didn't vote the "right way" for the whiny Left. So, they're mouth pieces are back in court trying to overrule the majority. Libs hate democracy and voting because they can't get their way unless they force it thru courts.
