Your definition of stiring the pot is one having a different opinion and then defending themselves.

That is EXACTLY with what's wrong with this world today.

Too many people get offended/upset without actually discussing an issue.

It's a lot easier to curse someone, call them names, acuse them of being something, than it is to actually debate them/point out fallacies in what their saying.

As I said, I'm "Anti-Canadian" now to people here because I pointed out some observations during the Olympics that I wasn't the only one who noticed and it wasn't just an international, but a domestic sentiment as well. Yet, I'M the bad guy....

But we don't feel like debating... we don't need to explain ourselves to you. It's kind of arrogant of you to believe that we need to bite your bait and act the way you want us to act.

So what.. you posted an article... what were you hoping for? There was a lot of intelligent discussion in that thread, but you don't want to hear it. You'd rather tell us that we're what's wrong with the world and that we have our heads up our butts, and that we're arrogant.

So what if I am a proud Canadian? I am proud, and I have every right to be, Canada is an amazing country. Hockey is an amazing sport. You complain that Canadians are over the top when it comes to hockey? Well Americans are over the top when it comes to baseball, basketball, football, and a lot of other things. So what? What is your point? No one here is denying our pride, you're just here to stomp all over it.

That's the thing, you're not debating either. There's nothing TO debate. It's either A) You don't see the connection to a maple leaf and a swastica, or B) You do see a connection

There isn't a ton to discuss. Myself I don't like being compared to a Nazi. My wife is jewish, it hits a nerve.

You're not debating, you're trolling.

It's not comparing a Maple Leaf to a Swastika...

It's saying that as an example of the last time that another symbol overtook the Olympic rings.. That's it. It's that simple.

lol, I'm not here to stomp on anything....

I was just pointing out the Olympic Attitude and even pointed out that some Canadians felt the same way as well...

As I've said before too, I understand arrogance better than anyone from where I'm from/the team I support. It's truly easy for me to point it out when I see it, because we are the kings of it. :)

Simple question that requires about a 9 word response: Why are you here?

Visa purposes and discussion on processes, etc.

Why are you?

I've pointd to other Canadian sources who agree.

You're ignoring facts of how people view it, and that's all I was pointing out.

Fact: 1936 - Swastikas over Olympic Rings

Fact: 2010 - Maple Leafs over Olympic Rings

What's so hard to comprehend there?

Sprailenes is right, we just don't care that the guy wrote this. It's not important and it's bordering on stupid. I guess he got the attention he was seeking - as all reporters do when they set out to push people's buttons.

I see the facts you have stated above - true - not true - I personally don't care - really I don't. If there were more Maple Leafs than Olympic Rings - don't care.

Your definition of stiring the pot is one having a different opinion and then defending themselves.

This is not what is 'wrong with the world today'. Had this article been posted 50 years ago, it would still have generated the same response, in fact I would say it would have had a much stronger response because many of those Canadians that fought the Nazis would still be around - and they would be outraged.

This is just a tricky (although not very tricky) little article, not sure what the guy was going for, whether he just takes himself too seriously or he was looking for some attention - either way, doesn't matter.

Yea and the Olympic attitude during the Salt Lake City games... the USA was accused of doing the same thing and pushing their 9/11 agenda. Not everyone is going to be happy, there's going to be people who complain. I personally didn't see anything wrong with it. But others did.

I can't speak for Vancouver because I wasn't there but I see nothing wrong with Canadians being proud or a "sea of red". But some disagreed, yes even Canadians. What is your point?

You're going to have people who agree, and people who don't. That's the workings of the world... and it doesn't make anyone right or wrong.

It's almost as bad as people who call you a racist because you say one thing negative about a certain race...

Wow, just wow.

First off, comparing anything to swastikas is just plain rude and completely inappropriate. I don't care what kind of point you are trying to prove, it is completely disrespectful and unnecessary to bring up something like that. I'm not even Jewish and I'm offended.

Second, when someone says something negative about a race, that's racism. No exceptions! It's never okay to say bad things about other people like that.

I don't know why I'm bothering to reply.... moving on....

Paul and all

the First Article posted in your original post IS a METAPHOR

met·a·phor

–noun

1.

a figure of speech in which a term or phrase is applied to something to which it is not literally applicable in order to suggest a resemblance, as in “A mighty fortress is our God.” Compare mixed metaphor, simile (def. 1).

2.

By definition what the author (and you continue to) did was Directly compare what Canada did to the Nazis.

Negative doesn't necesarrily mean bad and it's not always racism to point something out.

Well we obviously learned two different defintions of the word negative.

I'll agree to disagree with you on this one. You see things that way you want to see things and that's totally fine. I just don't agree.
