Hello fellow March fillers, could you help me out? I am new on this forum, I hope people can help me with my situation because I am sooo anxious.

In 2007, my then employer filled an EB3 140/485 package for me, which of course has been stuck in a backlog for a while, however I have been able to use the EAD and advance parole from that application since 2007 (I was previously using H1b). fast forward to may 2009, I got married ot a US citizen and I decided to file another AOS in March this year, so we submitted I130 and I485, and everything went lighting fast, we got called for our interview on May 25th in Baltimore, and the IO was really nice and said she would recommend us for approval, that her supervisor had to sign off and we will get our approval notice in the mail within 3 days. She did not even mention anything about my EB3 application, but she took my I94 card.

On the website, I saw that the I130 was the only thing getting updated post interview and the I485 had not been touched since the week before the interview. On June 1, my husband received the approval notice for the I130 but nothing (email or postal mail) has come for the I485 and I am so anxious. Has anyone been in this sort of situation or know anyone who has gone through this? Please share your thoughts and suggestions because I dont want to go through the reneal process of my EAD and Ap docs anymore, I just want to move on past this immigration forms for a while

I'm not sure... Most of us on this thread and the forum "Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from Family Based Visas" came or brought our spouse on K1s. There might be people here that know about the type of visa you came on, but if you get no replies there is another forum just below ours that are people adjusting from School and Work visa.

Good luck!!

Our VisaJourney started July 2009 when I mailed the 129-F

Fiance here February 2010, married 10 days later

GC received in the mail 10-Jun-2010

Able to apply to remove conditions 12-Feb-2012

A big "congratulations!!" to all of you who received good news! And for everyone else: hang tight, you'll get there!!! :)

Oh by the way, I got my "welcome notice" yesterday in the mail and I was wondering... Does any of you know when/if I get assigned a social security number automatically from either the EAD or the Green Card? Or should I ask for one myself?

Our Timeline:

09/25/2009: After 5 years together, we get married!

Did you apply for a SSN with your J1 visa? I am asking because I was here on a J1 too from 2007 to 2008 (I then went back to work in Italy for 1 year before we married) and I had to get a SSN then. So now I am just waiting for my green card to go to the SS office and have the condition "Valid only with work authorization" removed.

If you have never had a SSN before, I advise at this point you wait for your GC and go apply for an unrestricted one. The application for a SSN is not done automatically (unfortunately!)

Congrats on the welcome letter!

Thanks Vivi!

So what about the EAD card: it IS enough in order to be hired in the US, right? Because I have a job offer, I already started and I will be sent the contract soon... But I only have the EAD card, not the SSN. Do you think this will be ok, or do you think I will NEED the SSN to be hired?

Sorry I'm a bit confused!

EAD Card is definitely ok to be authorized to worl, but the company needs a SSN to have all your papers in order (and also to pay you and do taxes etc). I guess apply ASAP with EAD (then you can get the condition removed when you have your GC) and show your employer the notice from the office that you applied for a social, it should be enough for them to hire you. Once you have your SSN they will fill out the paperwork needed.

Just a quick question, was your J1 for a job? They required a social when I worked in LA.

i applied SSN couple of days ago using my EAD ( i post about this couple of days ago ) unfortunately the SS in charge said my EAD card number is not yet been activated or not yet found in the department of homeland security they said i will wait for about 4 weeks,,, i am looking somewhere on what should i do so my EAD card number will be activated in DHS.

Thanks Vivi!

You will definitely need your SSN before you can start to work. My husband received his using his EAD. Unlike confused, they were able to process everything and he recieved it in less than a week. He has his first interview today. *fingers-crossed*

Went to USCIS in Irving Texas today. Had a 1pm Infopass appointment. For those who dont remember, i went for my AOS interview last week on Thursday and when my buzzer went off, i was told that i'd be having no interview because they dont have my file yet. I was really mad and wondered how i could be sent for an interview notice and they dont have my file. Anyway, the lady who was confirming my appointment today asked the reason for my appointment and i told her. She then told me that my situation was common and happens all the time. She gave me a number and told me to wait my turn.

15 minutes later i was called by some guy to a window aho asked for my infopass appointment. I gave him and explained my situation. He then looked to see where my file is and told me that the file was, as of yesterday, at the National benefits Center. He said that they are looking into closing it and sending it to Texas where they will then contact me and schedule for an interview. Well, i guess iam out of luck. I have everything but me interview date. I was looking forward to getting this over and its what it is. Cant scream at anyone so i guess i will just wait patiently. The guy told me that it could be another 30 days so we could potentially have the file in Irving TX on July 6th or earlier but could be upto 60 days (Aug 6th).

I wonder why this had to happen to me but i wont complain coz i have EAD and i work (a really good job) that supports my wife (USC) and i. Back to wait mode but i really think NBC should co-ordinate with local office before scheduling interviews...lol
