I really don't agree. The system is in place for the EAD so the non-USC doesn't have to wait (years!) like they used to. 90 days (usually closer to 60) is a nice amount of time for the non-USC to get used to his/ her new surroundings without the pressure and stress of finding work/ not finding work/ working.

For us it's been like a long honeymoon. Yes, money can get a bit tight with all the major changes and only one spouse working, but it's really nice having a nice clean place, warm fresh cooked meals, and actually HAVE time to spend with one another, instead of we both just got off work, you clean, I'll cook, and maybe we'll see each other when we go to bed.

I guess it's the half-cup thing. It's all in how you look at it.

I agree, it's nice. But the money aspect...non so nice. Sometimes being home all day is actually bad because I get even more frustrated about the situation. Thankfully it doesn't happen everyday, but when it does it's more like me venting rather than my husband and I on a "honeymoon"...

Also I don't think the system is in place so that people can adjust to their new surroundings. You should still have the option of being able to work...if you choose not to for some time, because you want to enjoy the time with each other, then you are free to do it. But I think after months for the k1, after you get married and you file for AOS...I think a work permit should be the least they could do. A temporary one, like EAD, until the GC, I'm not saying like a permanent one.

I have the strong belief that they want to discourage people from immigrating, because the process is so long and expensive...but that's just me!

As frustrating as it is as far as waiting time, we unlike large amount of good people have something coming our way.

Let's not forget that. I mean I wish I could of got my EAD card 3 months a go, but there is load of patient people ahead of me.

i am so happy we have the same place for our interview maybe we can share notes of what documents we are going to bring during the interview,,,in the notice some of these documents already submitted when we submitted the AOS applications like the federal income tax returns and so on,,im wondering if we be bringing this again....

I personally gave them a lot of documents (originals) when i was sending my paperwork and will go with recent bills/bank statements and anything they advised to take that i hadn't taken. If i sent it already then i wont take it. The best thing is that whatever you mailed them, if it was a copy, take the original. I will let you know how my interview went though.

I am so bored today that I think I will start gathering the documents for the interview even though it is basically in a month...I just really hope they don't RFE me about the medical. I am going to be stubborn and not go to a CS until they RFE me (IF they do). The 200 euros for the medical in Italy is still hurting :o

JimNLena, I am sure EAD will come so soon...it's a matter of days now! It's not the time to think about smoking again!

Let's all enjoy this weekend, and hoepfully some of us will get a Friday surprise in the mail!

Just got a text about AOS!!

USCIS now says, "Document production or Oath Ceremony

On May 17, 2010, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

Have you checked USCIS for your case yet? I was hoping you got the text too. Isn't it strange that they said May 17 though? It means that more of us might be approved and not yet know it.

Yes, it's WONDERFUL news. I called and he said, "I could have been down at the temp agency already???" I have a HR Specialist that has placed me with a huge investment firm back in the day, and I asked him to go see her to see if she would find a good temp place for him until he finds the right position. So he is planning to go see them on Monday. YAY!

The weird thing is that JRSmooth also seemed to get the "card production ordered" message on Monday. I imagine our statuses look the same, but why would I have gotten the text 4 days later? I have been checking that site like crazy.
