Both of the other two of us who were transferred to CSC from this month's thread didn't have our biometrics appointment yet, so I think your walk-in theory inaccurate. Our biometrics is scheduled for April 12, and our case is already transferred. Doing a walk-in will sometimes make the EAD process faster, sometimes it actually slows it down; depending how far out your appointment was set. Typically it doesn't affect the AOS portion much from reviewing other people's timelines. Just DON'T go past your appointment, or your case is considered abandoned.

The ASC is also not just for the biometrics appointment. Most cases are transferred from the Texas Family Benefits Center to their local ASC office to finish processing and have an interview.

I did not know that the other cases that were transferred did not have their biometrics taken yet. I was just speculating. My appointment was meant to be April 9, but I did it about two weeks early.

The ASC I went to only handles biometrics, and not anything else. If you are in the Los Angeles area, I believe all interviews are held in their office downtown field office. A field office is different to an ACS, I think.

If you have the application number, you should be able to create a USCIS account and view your status there... I am using this site - https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/Dashboard.do

Good luck and here's to a speedy process ahead!

Thanks for your responses, alex&astrid and dain&vicky! Do you think if I call the ASC they will let me know if they do walk-ins or should I just go try one day to see how it goes? Coz I know some offices still say "no, according to the site, blahblah..." over the phone when in fact they can actually do otherwise.

Just wondering. And if anyone here has done biometrics walk-in from St Paul let me know!!

I'm sooo excited and anxious!

its ok though we dont have the NOA hard copy yet?

It took a few days for my case numbers to show up on the website, even though I had the numbers that were emailed to me. In the first few days, nothing is going to happen, so there's no rush :)

Strangest thing happened yesterday. My step-daughter got her biometrics appointment but my wife has not received it yet. Seems to me to be bass ackwards as the K-2 is a derivative of the K-1. Anyone else seen this before?

Dave

Hi Dave&Oksana - welcome to this topic!

I have followed this topic from the start, I am not sure if anyone here has the same case as you. Anyhow, give it a few days, maybe it's just a small delay? Maybe check your case status on the USCIS site?

Sorry I can't be of much help - just welcoming you in this forum! :)

I'm signed up on USCIS' website and also with the initial paperwork for text and email updates. I received a text that my case had been updated and an email saying it had been forwarded to CSC.

The ASC is also not just for the biometrics appointment. Most cases are transferred from the Texas Family Benefits Center to their local ASC office to finish processing and have an interview.

Those lucky enough to get transferred to CSC typically won't have an interview (unless there's a fraud indicator found during CSC processing), and the adjudication of the green card is typically faster than the ASC route, depending on your particular ASC. In our case, Milwaukee shows processing from September and is slower than the national average, so it's very likely it will be much faster for us to be processed at CSC. Many people who are transferred to CSC in previous month's threads get their greencard shortly after their EAD, sometimes even before it.

I have no idea what their criteria for transferring to CSC is.

Hi guys! A Feb filer here! CSC transfers for our group seem to have been done around 15-30 days after biometrics, and its a lot based on a) if your case is really simple and b) where you live (ex. people in California almost always have an interview). Also almost all of the I-130 cases I have seen have an interview as well. Biometrics done early for our group only seems to have affected getting interviews earlier, EAD's have just started coming in and except 1 case where their senator was involved, ours have been taking around 60 days. We have had a few people turned away trying to do their biometrics earlier so...I would say try it if you are close to the service center, otherwise you may waste a day driving to a place that turns you away (any filers from Santa Ana note that they will not do early biometrics, the guard is quite firm on this)

So far we have had something like 12 or 13 transfers but no approvals yet, and we have some interviews coming up soon, so I guess it just depends on where you live and how backed up your ASC is as to whether being transferred or having an interview is faster. I expect some of the transfers to get approved before my interview next month.

For case status's, if it doesnt show up online now, it probably will after your biometrics, my AP was the only one I could track from the start, the other 2 didn't show up till the day after the biometrics.

All in all most of our cases have been going really quickly, so I hope the same holds true for your group! Good luck to everyone on your Journey's!

Well Oksana got her Biometrics appointment today. It's the same date of April 23rd as her daughter's. Now does anyone know if Omaha allows walk-ins?

I live in Los Angeles but my case got transfered...I am still preparing to be called up for an interview but it would be very nice to have it skipped!

How do you think they classify 'simple' cases? I mean, I came in on a K1, no RFE's or anything else difficult during the K1 process, and I am Australian. I've lived in the US on an F1 previously, and I've never had any overstays. To me, that is simple, but I don't know what that means to them!

You should be fine :D I'm not sure exactly how they classify simple cases really, but they rarely transfer your case back to an ASC once they have transferred it to CSC. LA seems to have an even split of transfers to non-transfers from what I can tell (santa ana has no transfers ever :(), so a total congrats on yours! As long as they don't pick up any red flags in the system you should get through without an interview!
