You know what's over the top? Airbrushed eagles, and stars and stripes all over a FORD TOUGH truck, along with bumper stickers all over the back end about how you're AMERICAN AND DAMN PROUD OF IT. Plus the American flags waving from both CB Antennas - That's a little over the top.

Sprailenes-...I'm American (and Canadian) too...and proud of that too.....But I have to agree with that this one is too over-the top....

Lol..Cool artisitc talent though.....Would like to see a pic of that someday...lol..

I myself prefer to show my patriotism to Canada and the USA...With just two simple flags....On a pin...And on the fridge...And on my VJ sig.......

Works well there...;) (though am considering hoisting both flags outside of my house and getting some small bumper stickers later on..We'll see....;) )

And yes, I cheer for both the teams...I can't decide...Oh the drawbacks of being dual....lol...

Ant

Everyone-On another note..Where can I find dual Canadian/American mechandise?

I wasn't just cheering on Canada, I love Apolo of the USA, and I love Kim Yu-Nah of South Korea.

I loved watching Vonn overcome her injury and take gold.

Yea I loved watching Sidney score in overtime too.

Ant- Glad we can agree on that! Canada is definitely more than hockey and poutine, I was just thinking of things we can and should be arrogant about. Who has better poutine? Nobody! (maybe because nobody else has it... :P) and our hockey players? Awesome.

Mitt Romney's an interesting character...

I've actually found that the closer you get to the Canadian border, the more you see American flags waving outside of houses or plastered on trucks. Mind you I've never been to Texas, but I don't see a lot of that here in Colorado, and I don't remember seeing it much in my travels to states like Florida, California, NC and SC... Its like Americans get more patriotic the closer to an international border they are.

Huggles-Bragging about poutine.....Now that's a first! Interesting...Hmm...

Lol..As for the flags...I've noticed the opposite effect though..The further south in the USA I go, the more flags....

Think it's because they are more conservative/republican there...

Though one thing odd I've noticed...American flags outnumber Canadian flags...Sad, really..What does that say about Canadian pride?

Snow.

Lots and lots of snow. ;)

PaulandVanessa-Lol..The USA is about snow too! Funny, how we get a lot more here in the Buffalo, NY and area, then in some parts of Canada.....

But yeah, Canada is about snow too..

Anything else Canada is about?....Discuss...

Lol...I was cheering for all the teams too (though I admit at times I was favouring the Canadians over the Americans, since Canada is the home team)....

Again, I couldn't decide, especially being dual and all...

Nevertheless, may the best player/olympian win, regardless of country/nationality!.... :star:

That's the thing about the Olympics though, it is about national pride, no matter what country. Everyone wants the athletes from their country to win... bring home the gold. This isn't new nor is it something that is confined to Canada. Just so happens we were the host country... so if you saw a sea of red, I personally apologize... our flag is red and white, and well white isn't even considered a colour anyways.

We are who we are, why do we have to debate it?

Why are you constantly trying to push our buttons when it comes to everything Canadian?

I mean that's like me going up to a mother and telling her why her child is stupid... what kind of response do you expect? This isn't a healthy debate, this is you trolling the Canadian forum.

You're exactly right Nevada - but this is how he gets is jollies - to those of you that said we probably shouldn't have responded to the guy - well, you are probably right too (but it's fun to vent at a...umm, poster, once in a while).

Guys like this get extreme pleasure from having these round about 'discussions' or 'debates' - he posts a little bit every now and then just to keep it going, it really is troll 101.

Oh and btw, it's not smart....it's rude.

Its no different when one goes to a HOME event--one wears their colors! Goto a Capitals Hockey game, and its all red! And imagine at the Olympic hockey game most were Cdns! Lets face it, most people outside of canada, couldnt even tell ya what a hockey stick looks like, lol

On the other hand, i thought NBC did a pretty good job at covering the Olympics! If anything they were very North American biased lots of Canada/USA stuff, very little about the rest of the world.

And I think the host country should get the fair share of the tickets. How many $$$$$$$ did the Federal/provincial gov't chip in,probably a whole lot.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Snow.

Lots and lots of snow. ;)

So this is the contentious thread!

as Catherine O'Hara said in her humorous closing ceremonies speech (referring to the lack of snow on Cypress Mountain and the spring-like tourism pornography that was Vancouver), "I'm SORRY you thought Canada is a frozen tundra!"

Please tell me.

How in the hell is pointing something out that is somewhat honest about how people were acting, rude?

How is being truthful rude.

I posted an article, somewhat agreed with it and I am the one being lambasted for it. Come on.

Seriously, lighten up people. You're taking things WAY too seriously and overreacting to an article in a damned newspaper 1488 miles away.

Need I remind you, I also posted an article out of Montreal saying the exact same thing.....

Again...the attitude that ALL OF US are reacting the "wrong way" and that YOU ALONE are innocent is a very arrogant attitude indeed. How are we taking it the wrong way? You agreed with an article that's liking Canadian nationalism to the nationalism of Nazi Germany...why do you think many of us are reacting this way? I don't think you're that naive.

Agree with Wyatt.

"Lighten up people" "You are taking things WAY too seriously" "overreacting"

You forgot "You people spend way too much time here, you need to get a real life" and "this is the internetz, not real life"

Being truthful is not rude, in general. You also need to get familiar with the concept of being tactful as well. Just because this article is YOUR truth, does not mean it is everyones truth. Are you so naive that you think posting negative articles about Canada in the Canada forum will not generate this response? I don't think so, you got what you came for, it's time to move along.

I recommend that you post your anti-Canadian stuff in OT, I guarantee it will be even more fun for you!

Weird. I have always found more flags in the southern states than I ever did when I lived in Washington.

PS - Go USA! ;)

South Korean Kim Yu-Na's dazzling gold-medal performance in women's figure skating, for example, was overwhelmed here by the attention given to Quebec's Joannie Rochette, whose mother tragically died.

I am sure Rochette would give her meda to Kim Yu-Na in a heart beat to get her mother back.

This sentence is so seriously f*cked up.
