Those photos are usually submitted during NVC processing, UNLESS yer a DCF case.

are you a DCF case?

Hrmmm, that is a good point. I don't believe treehugger is a DCF case, in which case they wouldn't have wanted the photos (I assume). We may be back to square one on this one, pending any info from the consulate about photos. I keep forgetting about the weirdazz NVC stuff since I was DCF, and K1 peeps submit their docs on the day just like the DCFers.

The CR-1/IR-1 guide here states 2 passport photos are also required to be handed over at the interview. Is this not the case?

Wow, that guide is seriously out of date on a few things -- referring to forms as "OF-230" instead of DS-230 is a bit behind the times!

I looked at the London website for this and it is (as usual) as clear as mud: http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/iv/docs_nvc.html

On the one hand it says this:

On the day of the visa interview you will be required to furnish the appointment letter, passport and color photographs (see below) of each person applying for an immigrant visa.

It also says this:

Documents submitted to the National Visa Center will have been forwarded to the Embassy with your immigrant visa file and will be available for review by the consular officer at the time you attend the visa interview....

We recommend that you review the following checklist to ensure if the following documents were not forwarded to the National Visa Center at the time they processed your immigrant visa application, you will be able to furnish the original or certified copy plus a photocopy on the day of the interview.

Color Photographs - Three color photographs which meet the State Department specifications.

So... you need to bring two extra, even though the NVC will have forwarded three? I note it's two extra, since this page says immigrant visas only need two whereas K's need three: http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/iv/docs169.html

Color Photographs - Immigrant visa applicants are required to furnish two color photographs which meet the State Department specifications and K visa applicants three.

(Never mind they only took one from my husband even though we were asked for two...!)

Totally, utterly FUBAR.

ya - specifically for fotos -

passport-style fotos are to be submitted to NVC on the DS-230. These photos, submitted with the DS-230, fulfill the requirement. Most ppl have no further need, for an I-130 petition (and NOT DCF'd) , to submit any more passport-style photos on interview day.

DCF'd petitions, though - thats a whole 'nuther animal.

For MOST 'regular' I-130's - irrespective (did I just make up a new word? ) of visa type -

if the photos are submitted at NVC

then is no requirement to submit 'more' on interview day.

None.

Non.

Nein.

Seriously - DOS Hotline Knows All (except for those DCF'd casefiles) - so - if yer not a DCF case - please? call DOS - get a HUMAN, inquire.

If it makes no sense to you - find my first post in this thread -

and then ..

map out exactly , from what I've written...

HOW TO ASK the right questions.

There is a boon (no - not a boondoggle) at DOS - with the Consulate/Embassy IV data being SHARED.

There is a BOONDOGGLE , alas, for any human you speak to, at DOS Hotline - in that...............

you have to ask the right questions.

I beg of you..

Learn to ask the right questions.

Learn HOW to ask the right questions...

then - badger these brain-dead contractors - and ASK THE RIGHT QUESTIONS.

Seriously - it's no skin off of MY nose.

But it IS skin off of YER nose....

If'n ya don't ken the right question to ask ..

Yer wasting yer time...

To sum up....

re-read my first post here. and read it again.. There are nuances there - and these nuances become useful - should you decide to apply some 'language' skills during 'that' conversation...

Alrighty !! Go Forth and Get some Frickin Status !!!!! (or else yer must post food pr0n fotos here in this topic)

Edited by Darnell

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Darnell, I greatly enjoyed your free verse poem, "HOW TO ASK the right questions." It is very much of our time and speaks to our generation, at least those going through NVC.

Seriously, I believe you on this one. The London Embassy website is a complete mess, and is full of contradictions. It seriously needs an overhaul.

Guys, thank you all for your input and your help!

No, I'm not DCF, CR-1 do have to submit more photos at the interview, my fellow VJers going through the same time as myself all did, and my appointment letter specified that:

The applicant must bring the correct size and number of photographs to the visa

interview. They must measure 2 inches by 2 inches (5 cm by 5 cm) on a white

background.

However, they never specified what the correct number is, and the London website, as you have discovered yourselves, isn't very clear either. Which is why I had four photos taken in the US just in case...hehe the photo machine in the embassy was actually cheaper! At the interview proper, the officer scanned one of the NVC photos...oh and, NVC want two photos, not three. If they don't know what they want, how do we??

Darnell, I'm calling the DOS line again when they open later on :)

Grrrrrrrrrrr!!

I called the DOS at precisely 8:30am EST, didn't even have to wait...got the most unhelpful woman ever, wouldn't even let me speak, just kept saying call the USE over and over, and then she said just a second, you spoke to my colleague yesterday, why are you calling again today? tried telling her that since that call I'd gotten an email saying that I was in AP...she said don't call again, call the USE, but before she ended the call I managed to get from her that the current status is 'pending' and that it was dated 22/2, ie the day of the interview. Now what??? Oh, and, it says all documents are complete.

I then call the extortion line, and the guy there tried to be helpful, but at least he was honest when he said I can't give you any more information, I'm in a call centre :(

GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

PS the woman at the DOS yesterday said feel free to call back whenever you want, especially as we might have more information than the embassy....tried telling the one today that was what I was told, and all I got back was 'call London, call London'. Humph!

Well, no news at this end. Still in AP. My husband is contacting his congressman today. I had planned to fly back to the US this week...and now I don't even have my passport, let alone a visa. Have spent far too much time online trying to see how many Brits are ever put in AP...let's just say, most UK citizens get their passports back, with visa inside, by the end of the week, and on another forum I read of someone who had her interview on this Thursday just gone and they tried delivering her passport the very next day :( :( :(

Thanks! Because I was under the impression it was all done and dusted, I had started tying up loose ends...now I have to unravel them again because if I have nothing to do I'll go insane!

Sorry, but it seems I've hijacked your thread...oops!!
