Hi All,

Does a U.S Citizen thru naturalization need to fill out his/her "old" A# on any petition filed for immediate relative?

Some say you do, some say you don't. Please advise if you know for a fact.

Thank you.

I know I had to fill in my A# somewhere on an application for the K-1. And when the NOA2 for the K-1 came, it listed my A# as well as my foreign fiancee's A# on there. However when my fiancee eventually got her K-1 Visa from the embassy, I noticed that it was my A# that they had put on the actual K-1 Visa on her passport. After my fiancee arrived in the US and we married, I made sure that I highlighted my fiancee's A# in the cover letter (for AOS process) as well as the K-1 NOA2 and stated clearly that is her A#. I did this to ensure that no one at USCIS would make the mistake of using my A# for my fiancee. As time progressed, I got NOAs during the AOS process and noted that USCIS used the correct A# for my wife.

 Thanks for your answer TexPol. Still don't know what to do.. I tend to think that I should fill it in.. better safe than sorry. But again when I hear about confusions like the one you just described ... don't know.

US citizens don't have an Alien number, simply because they are not aliens, but citizens. One can only be one, and not both, as alien citizens or citizen Aliens do not exist until extraterrestrial inhabitants of Earth eventually will cause a change of the constitution.

For all practical purposes the A # died when you ceased to be an alien. No, do not enter it.

(But, if you do it nonetheless, nothing bad will happen to you; except, perhaps, that you confuse one of the drones working there sending an RFE to your spouse as a reward.)

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

No its not required, but it won't hurt if you do put on your petition. I did on one petition and not on another one, it didn't make any difference.

If you are petitioning for a Non-Immigrant Visa (K-1 or K-3), the I-134 required for income level (Affidavit of Support) asks for the certificate of naturalization number, if your a naturalized citizen.
