Hello everyone,

I am doing my paper for immigration through DCF in Montreal.

good news! I got the letter with the date of the interview this week!!! :-) I am so happy!!!

The only thing is they ask for the originals and one copy of documents I already gave them in the second step (DS230 and I-864), like marriage certificate, birth certificate, affidavit of support... except my passport I gave them a copy.

I do not have the originals with me anymore

I believed they would give me back my originals at the interview.

I was thinking that they seem to send the same letter with the same content to everyone, that is why they ask me to bgrin the originals and one copy of them to the interview.

What could I do? they have all my originals already and a copy of them.

I wrote them an email yesterday to tell them I do not have the originals because they already have them. I am waiting for their answer.

thank you a lot

Hi Pucca,

Congratulations!

We didn't DCF, however I do have a copy of some of the documents they send out.

Unless they have changed it, from last year, you aren't supposed to send in the documents with the checklist, the documents are to be presented at the interview. Historically you would only return the DS-230 parts 1 and 2 and the checklist.

Did you receive different instructions?

I did not get the same paper as yours. It was not as clear as yours concerning the originals.

It was written on the checklist that I have sent with, and I can not chek again now to be sure.

I remember having read about sending both originals and a copy on forums, but mayba I did not really understand.

For me, they should give me back my originals at the interview.

I am still waiting for an answer of the US consulate in Montreal.

I am surprised it took 2 month and a half to get the date of the interview. :-)

thank you

You did read about sending one original and one copy on the forums, but that is for non-DCF people - they send that to the National Visa Center. For those folks their originals are returned at the interview.

I suspect you were not supposed to send your originals to the consulate, or your I-864, you were to present them at the interview (hence the surprise request they sent you to provide originals at the interview).

I would think they would have them and would return them to you, but I don't know - hopefully they will email you back with that information.
