Hi everybody,

I had my K-1 interview more than 2 weeks ago in Frankfurt, Germany and my visa got approved. Since then I am sitting at home waiting for my visa to show up in the mailbox. I emailed the US consulate in Frankfurt today to ask whether my visa was issued already. A guy replied and said theat they are still waiting for my police certificate from the Netherlands (I lived there for 4 years, but I wasn't registered there). Now I don't know what to do. I booked a flight for March 22nd, and I don't know whether I'll be able to get on that plane. In a forum I found the information that foreigners had to wait 8 - 12 weeks for a police certificate from Holland. That would be so sad. Does anyone of you have experience with obtaining a police certificate from the Netherlands? The worst thing is even that I cannot do anything, I cannot even contact the US consulate in Amsterdam.

Thanks guys

Nora

Hi Nora - I thought you had to have your police certificate(s) before you sent the checklist to the Embassy and had the interview??

Sorry for your dilemma, I hope it comes through for you in the next few weeks.

Sorry for your dilemma, I hope it comes through for you in the next few weeks.

It's a little bit more complicated though.. In the netherlands you're not allowed to request a police clearance on your own. The US consulate in Amsterdam does it on your behalf. And since my case is being processed in Frankfurt, Frankfurt had to request it at the US consulate in Amsterdam and Amsterdam had to request it at the Dutch Ministry of Justice. I called Amsterdam this morning and they said they requested it 3 days ago (as being urgent :-)) and once they received it they gonna scan it and mail it to Frankfurt. She was not sure how long it will tkae, but at least they are working on it. That's a big relief already.. I just hope I can jump on the plane I have a ticket for in 2 1/2 weeks..

For those who are dealing with the same problem: keep calling them.

Hi Nora,

I was just searching the internet for the exact same problem of yours!!!! I will start the process of obtaining the K-1 visa and already did some research. Well, I also lived in Amsterdam (still do) but am still registered in germany, so I would also need a dutch police certificate. I will also get everything processed at the embassy in Frankfurt so I guess I have to find a way now to get the dutch police certificate. Do you have any tips on how to acquire it fast and what to look out for? Thank you so much in advance
