hi all - first of all, thanks to everyone for all their input. it is so helpful!

anyway, I did the I-130 interview and that went well. We passed the first stage. I already got my police records from my home country, went to the doctors to do my medical exam today (cost about 350 bucks!?!) and went to get my police report which will be ready in a couple weeks from the Tokyo police headquarters. Our interview date (when we hand in our I-864 ) is at the end of the month. we are hoping to book our ticket to go abroad (not the US but for an extended holiday before the US) and want to book it about 10 days after our interview. is this risky? i have read online that people got their passport back with their visa in it in like a day.....but that on the website it says 1 week. if there are problems, do they try to resolve it right away or do you have to make another appointment? if so, then we figured we would do it when we are back in japan (in june).... and then reapply. im hoping everyone passed their second interview the first time! did you?

what do you think? its just that tickets are getting expensive!

My interview is on Tuesday and I have booked my flight out 10 days after that. I totally agree with you regarding $$$ for the flights, so my advice is go ahead and do it. I'm sure others may suggest otherwise

Most people suggest you wait but I booked my tickets as soon as I knew my interview date. I booked my departure for 10 days after my interview and it was fine

are you sure your I-864 is fine and you won't have issues?
