No worries they will cash your check early enough in the process, I promise

That is great, we are quite a few filers in March on VJ.

We're just hoping to have him here by Sept/Oct

Pretty much the same here... Based on the stats, that could happen! Let's again hope for a speedy approval at the VSC level.

Nice surprise when I checked my online banking first thing this morning! Check cashed yesterday, NOA1 sent on Monday. And I got a touch today, so hopefully they're getting started on the background checks, etc. :)

Mailed in I-129F package 3/10/2010 to the Vermont Service Center, and saw that the check was cashed 3/17/2010. Glad the process has started, and wish speedy success for all of us.

I got my NOA1 hard copy today, which was just a nice reassurance. I'll add it to my folder filled with copies of the K-1 packet and now just settle in for the wait.

I'd say it's gonna be pretty slow in this thread for a while until people start getting NOA2s. How bout we start a little conversation? How bout telling a little about you and your fiance's relationship (how you met, etc?...)

I'll start...

I went to Cork, Ireland for a semester study abroad in fall '05. We met the night before my birthday when I was out at a nightclub with a friend. I was very drunk that night, while he was reasonably sober (usually it's the opposite...he's Irish after all). Anyway, we danced and had a good time, but after a while my friend wanted to leave, so I gave John my number and left. While I was walking home with my friend he texted me and asked if I wanted to meet up. So my friend and I waited for him and his friend. They caught up, we went over to their house. There was some drunken kissing, and then I went home. John and I were pretty much an item from then on. I was his first serious girlfriend and I think he was really surprised at how the relationship progressed. I sort of assumed that when I left at the end of the semester that we'd lose touch. But no, he was hooked and wanted to stay in contact. So we did, and essentially carried on a long-distance relationship for 18 months. He came to visit three times in America.

I decided to go back to Ireland to do a masters (really the major reason was John) in 2007. So I lived over there for nearly two years. We lived together for the last 9 months I was there. I was even granted permission to remain based on our long-term relationship, but I decided to come home for a few reasons. I had student loans I needed to start repaying and the only work I could find over there was cleaning up after drunk people in a nightclub. Also John wanted to come live in America after graduating (this year). So I figured it would be best to come back here and get established for when he came.

We had talked about marriage and it was clear we planned to marry each other, but it wasn't exactly in the plan this soon (well in fairness we've been together 4.5 years, but he is still a student after all, only graduating this year). But we discussed immigration options and challenges when I visited him for this past new years, and getting married was the best option (decided that after I left). So we're engaged! He's going to do a real proposal when I go visit him next week.

Anyone else want to share?

I'm the USC petitioner.

Nice story here...

My question for everyone: Will your fiance or fiancee try to do his/her current job or will he/she try to take this chance to change his/her career?
