Freaky Flight....

Had a return flight from DCA (Reagan National) tonight which was delayed 3 times and changed gates as many times.

When we were 30 minutes underway, we all heard what was thought to be a man yawning quite loudly. Moments later, we realized that the guy was having a major medical issue. Fortunately, there were two Physicians on-board (husband and wife), who treated what turned out to be a major seizure of some kind. We returned to the airport, EMT's boarded and the guy eventually walked out under his own power. Glad he was ok.

Anyway, the flight arrived in Kansas City 4 hours late (1 am local)....

Any similar experiences?

Nothing like that. Wow. Nearly crashed in Cincinnati in the rain. Nearly overshot the runway at Houston Hobby in the rain. That's all I can think of, but that was it.

Uh never. Glad you're actually back in one piece without further incident.

Thanks for the kind thought.

Surprisingly, flight tracker holds some "intimate" details of this flight, although completely inaccurate and missing some critical data. I don't need to tell you, not to believe everything you read/research on the Internet....

I was amazed to see anything about delays....

I had a flight from Moscow to Atlanta delayed while they rechecked the plane. Then, somewhere over Nova Scotia, someone had some serious problems and had to land. We landed in Goose Bay, or something like that. We got to Atlanta 4 hours late and I missed the connecting flight. There were several other flights that had been delayed so there was a gigantic room of people in line to re-book missed flights. They re-booked my flight for "the next morning." They gave me a food voucher but refused to cover a hotel. So I stayed in the airport and in the morning found out that they had actually booked me on a flight the following day, since all the flights that day were full. I got on the third flight out on standby. Then my luggage didn't come until the next day on the flight that I was booked on. That was that. But nothing was lost, surprisingly.

When connecting through Paris CDG, expect that your luggage will leave Paris one flight later than the flight you are booked on. It's pretty typical.

And avoid flying with me. I have been on 3 flights that had medical emergency landings. It's contagious.

More often than not when I've flown through CDG I end up leaving Paris one flight later than the one I was booked on. Guess that explains why my luggage has always been with me on my flight.

These days I avoid CDG and after the news today I think I want to avoid JFK as well....

Child's play at NY air traffic tower sparks inquiry

NEW YORK

Wed Mar 3, 2010 9:44am EST

NEW YORK (Reuters) - An investigation is underway into why a young child, apparently under an adult's supervision, was allowed to direct air traffic at New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport, U.S. authorities said Wednesday.

In transmissions broadcast by local media, the young child -- whose age is unknown -- can be heard directing pilots for departure, apparently under the supervision of an adult. The incident reportedly happened two weeks ago.

At one point an adult voice can be heard telling a pilot: "This is what you get guys when the kids are out of school."

The pilots receiving instructions from the child did not appear too concerned with one pilot saying "awesome job."

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said that pending the outcome of its investigation the employees involved in the incident were not controlling air traffic.

"This behavior is not acceptable and does not demonstrate the kind of professionalism expected from all FAA employees," the FAA said in a statement.

Nearly 48 million passengers pass through John F. Kennedy airport annually.
