Did you get your biometrics done? It could be your biometrics date. People get RFE for biometrics, that is what happened to my wife...

Long story short. Sent if off Feb. 5th. On the 24th they mailed off the RFE. We moved and they sent it to the old address. Won't resend it, since she said it can take up to 90 days to get here ( Yeah, right ). I am assuming they want this year's tax return. I sent 07,08 and the lease agreements and bank account statements. But I am not sure though. I do not want to waste 2 months. How would I do it if I decided to send them this year's tax return? Just send it to the address I sent the N-400 to and put the NOA number on it?

N-400

Applied on 12/4/20009

Biometrics 1/6/2010

Interview 2/24/2010

Oath 2/24/2010

Trip to Social Security Office 2/26/2010

Passport Application 2/26/2010

Congrats to my wife on her becoming a U.S citizen.... Journey is over .....

Sven- You need to do BOTH the AR-11 and I-865....

The AR-11 is for the Alien Change of Address...Which can be done online and/or mailed in...

The I-865 is for the Sponsor Change of Address...Which has to be mailed in....

See the USCIS forms here for more info: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRD

Good luck..Hope this helps too.

For purposes of the N400, an AR-11 plus the phone call is necessary. The I-865 is only required if OP filled up an I-864 on behalf of someone intending to immigrate.

No..That's not true...You have to file the AR-11 when you move, and your sponsor has to file the I-865 if they move, as follows:

Sponsor's Notice of Change of Address (I-865)

Purpose of Form : To report a sponsor's new address and/or residence, as required by 8 U.S.C. 1183a(d)

Number of Pages : 5

Edition Date : 11/17/09. Previous editions accepted.

Where to File : Mail this form to the Service Center with jurisdiction over your new state of residence.

Filing Fee : $0

Special Instructions : Please see the related link "Where Do I File" for information on the specific Service Center you should mail your form.

Change of Address (AR-11)

Purpose of Form : To report the change of address of an alien in the United States. If you are subject to Special Registration, see Form AR-11 Special Registration.

Number of Pages : 1

Edition Date : 10/06/08. Previous edition accepted.

Where to File : (NA)

The I-865 is immaterial to the N400. You don't need a sponsor for citizenship. You only need the I-865 if you are moving and have filed an I-864 on behalf of someone else and perhaps coincidental to the OPs case but the issue as it arose from this thread relates only to the N400 application.

From https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=coa

2. Non-U.S. Citizens

If you have moved, you need to follow two different steps:

* Step 1: File a Form AR-11 (This changes your address in our master database.);

* Step 2: If you have a pending case, you must also file a Change of Address online or call our National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283. (This changes your address for the specific application you have submitted.)

Sunny808-True you do not need a sponsor for the N-400.

However, the sponsor that you before for your permanent residency is still your sponsor (unless the immigrant dies, moves out of the USA, becomes a USC,....re-read the I-864 agreement again about those conditions about sponsorship...).

So if that sponsor moves, they have to file the I-865 too....

In most cases...the sponsor is the spouse....So...the OP's spouse (if they are the sponsor) needs to file this one...

And the immigrant OP needs to file the AR-11....

In my case, I filed the AR-11 when we moved, and my husband (my USC sponsor) filed the I-865 when we moved

Lol..Funny though, I didn't get a receipt for the AR-11, but my husband got a receipt for the I-865....

Does this better clear things up better? Hope this helps too.

I understand that. But Sven hasn't talked about him sponsoring anyone or his spouse sponsoring him in this thread. That's why I said it could well be coincidental to the change of address required for purposes of naturalization. AR-11 + the phone call is what he needs for purposes of the N-400.

But Sven did go through the AOS process (regardless from what visa they adjusted from) to get a green card....(see their timeline...)

And for the AOS process, an I-864 form is needed (which is a sponsor)....

And if the sponsor moves, they file the I-865....

The sponsor is still the sponsor for the immigrant unless the immigrant: dies, leaves the country, becomes a US Citizen...

So this "agreement" is still in effect..And one of the conditions is tha if the sponsor moves...They have to report it to the USCIS...

And yes, the AR-11 for the immigrant if they move is needed too.....(in this case, both the form and the phone call for the pending case)

Bottom line: Immigrant files the AR-11, Sponsor files the I-865...

Call/contact the USCIS if in doubt too....

Hope this helps too. Good luck..

That's why I keep emphasizing, for purposes of the N400. The change of address issue came up because OP might have missed his N-400 fingerprinting appointment. To alleviate his concern and to prevent such in the future, I suggested that he file the AR-11 and make the phone call for purposes of the N400. His wife probably needs to file the I-865. That I don't dispute or doubt. But since the context is one about missing mail in the future for his N400 application, and not about changing of address on file in general, then I stand with what I have previously said, AR-11 and phone call. I hope this makes it clear.

Eh, now we're confusing the OP. Got that Sven? LOL

So Sven, AR-11 and phone call for you. I-865 to be filled out by your wife, if she was your sponsor or has sponsored anyone else. Now don't tell me you disagree now Ant? :innocent:

Sunny808-I agree with you here....

Lol....AR-11 for Sven (form and phone call), and I-865 for Sven's sponsor (wife?)

That's what I was trying to explain earlier...(lol..though I just did it lengthier and with many more posts..)

Sorry for the confusion...

Sven...Hope you understand all of this...:)

Good luck on your journey too.

lol. Yes, That'd be for Sven's wife. But I won't call them to do the change of address. I'll mail in the form. I'm not really sure how long I am supposed to wait now, since the fingerprinting was always a month after they mailed it out. And the silly operator on the phone told me to wait 90 days because the USPS is slow

BTW. Yes, I do understand it. I've changed the address for us both before, but it's been like 3 years now and the last time I just sent in the AR-11.

Ok, I still haven't gotten anything. Wondering how many people there are who are just waiting for the letter, miss teh appt. and get their application denied  I jsut clicked "You need information or other services" since the "you have a pending application" field didn't have anything appropriate. I hope that's ok.
