i have been saying i was gonna do mine since my granny died.. she had her and her husband and her children all prepaid for burials..

I did mine when I was 21. Always knew what I wanted. I made payments. When I go, they come get me and take care of it. I want a memorial service after at my Church. And then everyone to go to my favorite bar and have a good time.

I am all for cremation - One part of my family has travelled (and now some moved) to a beach area for years - everyone in the family is cremated when they have passed, and their ashes are scattered on the same beach. With the first person, this really pretty blue butterfly appeared and was flying around us all - Since then, there is one more butterfly each time someone passes - and the only place down there we see them is on this beach.

I know the CT Lawyers are doing a ton of probono work for this, probably NY too - Here is a link to the CT attorney info, they have clinics, etc...

Hey Quana, it is nice that you got to spend the time with him. That is a blessing.

Personally I am all for cremation. I guess its a family thing. My mother said if we ever put her in a box she is coming back to haunt us.

Her boyfriend of 15 years passed away when I was in my 20's. He was cremated and his ashes put in the ocean here in Maine... my mother has asked for the same thing so she "can be with Joe".

I can take a book from the library for free and teach Tierra history, buy a doll and her a matching outfit (which I have done) all for less than 1/2 the cost of the doll. :)

It is a nice concept but just too much money.

For me, it's like Vegas.........When you GO, you KNOW. I have to bring you some pics in.

yes girl.. it was hard becuz roger keeps my phone while at work so ididn't get my sisters text when the dr called her.

i went to the hospital as my regular visit after work.. the nurse told me he was moved but didnt say why..

when i got there.. the chaplain greeted me with "im sorry for ur loss" i was like

it was heartbreaking cuz he seemed to be doing SOOO well, but God wanted him to get well enough to get RIGHT..

the last time i saw him.. we were all listening to a sermon his cousin had recorded and my dad listened to the WHOLE thing, he had wanted my sister to sing to him but she wasn't there so we listend to that instead..

he told me how overwhelmed he was from everybody's outpour of love and attention that mnth he was in hospital..most of us he hadn't seen in years.. he told me he loved me and i told himand i know any shame or condemnation was gone.. i know he gained a relationship w/ the Lord too..he was ready.. had he got back in those streets, who knows what would have happened to him..

that will comfort you

he's in a better place now

To be continued.....

Part 2

Some people are not going to like this but IMO

Ok maybe you should explained to him. i dont want to live some where.. where life as I am used to.. is not always secure. The options America leaves for people are unbelievable. Some Jamaicans dont agree with the culture of American and thats fine, you can have Jamaican culture in America. Some people are not used to getting everything the american way.. and dont wish to bend to anything else. One thing about the US, you can do any rass thing you set your mind on in this country, and actually make money off it. And i love that.. in jamaica. the smallest idea can take you some place.. but it will never take you to far.. unless you hussle your way. The jamaica his parents grew up in is gone. For good... the jamaica he probably grew up in is getting worse, not better, and the main reason is= all the educated are leaving (SMH), and not coming back to make it better, so if he want to go back he should stay and make that money and maybe one day he will realize he love his country enough to try and return to help it out. Not go back because its easier. But one thing is and this is so true Americans are lazy and a Jamaican can have alot here because of their work ethic.

JQ -- you can also do the same in Jamaica. It's not easy back home, but people do make it out there.

Forbes...I don't know your whole situation and what kind of support system he has back home, if any. Now, jobs a very -- extremely difficult to come by unless you're well educated or you know someone on the inside or have some kind of connection to the place you're seeking employment. Maybe your husband has a plan, who knows. I have several friends (American) who moved back with their husbands because the husband didn't like life here. It didn't happen right away it took time but they moved to Jamaica as well. We'll chat more.

********************************************************************************

....when it hurts to look back and you're scared to look ahead LOOK beside you and I'll be there.....

There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore... and who always will.

So, don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it to your future.

Molly's first one ended up with the head torn off....It was like 3 years old by then. Her brother and her wrestled with the giant Raggedy Ann and Andy till they tore the arms, legs, and heads off and I had to sew them back on so my mom wouldn't see the made to order dolls she was so proud of were disabled. And, don't even get me started about the 20 guinnea pigs we ended up with, the thousands of beeds or 10 lbs. of rice strewn all over her bedroom! She has issues at times.

I know you asked for opinions, but Quana don't make the choice based on what other people say. That's your dad and you when you make your final decision on choose to do, you want to be sure it's what YOU really wanted otherwise you will always think about if you made the right decision. Follow your heart. My dad died in 95 at the age of 47 with no insurance and we got his stone later. I was much younger and had to handle everything. It was a tought time so I really know how you feel. Hang in there.

Q - I can tell you about this firsthand, just my opinion though...My mom was cremated because it was what she wanted. I think that if there is very little money cremation is the way to go. I also pushed the button that started the creamation machine and it was one of the hardest things I had to do. The down side to cremation is that you don't have a gravesight to go visit the person time after time. With cremation, you can keep the ashes if you like. I took mom to VA Beach and one night I stood along the ocean line, said a prayer and released most of her ashes. I kept a little. I always joke and tell people its her big toe lol

And personally if you are going to do the gravesight, who really wants to do that and not have a stone?
