Thanks guys for helping me out with that social security question.

I go and fill out the form, called in by some man who said that we don't need to apply because for the past 3 months immigration automatically apllies for it once he comes, and that we'll get it in the mail within 2-3 weeks :unsure:

I don't think that's the case so I'm going back next week. Will let y'all know what happens because there's quite a few of us who will be applying for social security cards in the near future.

Nat: I hope you get the phone back.

MrsTee: dhs authorization? What's that????

The social security card Steven got (before getting EAD.. actually before we got married) says "Valid to work only with DHS authorization." DHS = Department of Homeland Security. Basically, when someone comes on a fiance visa, they can't work until getting the EAD (Employment Authorization Document) or until their status is adjusted to lawful permanent resident.

But one can still get a social security card/number; just can't use it to work until you get the EAD card or "green" card.

November 19, 2007 - Met

November 24, 2011 - Baby due!

I was saying that when we did our app for SS, we left it blank and they filled it out for us. his card has legal alien for work with dhs authorization

I'm so proud of myself. I wanted to eat some ramen noodles (hard & dry... yummy) but when I looked at the nutrition information :unsure: or lack of nutrition, I went for a 110 cal protein shake instead. I need to make that kind of decision more often, despite the fact that a pack of noodles is 15 cents and the protein shake is more like $1.

Way to go Nat...I ate terrible tonight. I went to Qudoba and had some chicken nachos. They were probably 1000+ calories.

LOL That's funny. I got in trouble in kindergarten because this girl I didn't like did me something. She said "I'm sorry. Do you forgive me?" as we were taught to say at the Christian school. I told her "Nope!" and told the teacher on her. *I* got in trouble for being unforgiving.

Awww, I feel for him. I don't know if I could be one of those positive, hopeful people if I were to get cancer. I'd just feel like I haven't done everything I wanted to do & I'd probably be terrified. I'm always amazed at people who deal with situations like that with true grace & humility.
