to anyone that has recently filed their 485 documents, what is considered a complete packet.

Background discussion:

(I485,G325,I-131,I-864 and 765)

my wife physical is within a year.

do she need a supplement I-693 and page 1 and 5 of I-693 filled out?

Almost each document wants passport photos.

How many should I send if filing concurrently?

One link says to file most recent W2 and 1040, while others say file last three W2s and 1040s.

which is correct?

Do I need a Employment Letter if I am submitting form I-864?

once filed, how will it take before we can travel back to her home country to get the children.

Plans are to travel in late May or June, gather passports (K2) spend time in beautiful Barranquilla Colombia and retrun to the states in July timeframe to begin school pre-enrollment

If you check the examples listed in this forum, they are outdated and confusing.

besos a todo

4 Pics, 2 for EAD, 2 for I-485 is what I sent (hopefully correct). I didn't do an AP, so not sure if that requires another set. You should have your AP within 60-90 days according to timelines.

I paid a civil surgeon to transcribe the I-693, too many RFE's lately for people who didn't, didn't want the paperwork held up. The transcription only was only $40, but varies.

Required is 1 year 1040 and W2 (and also recent paystubs). OPTIONAL on the form is last 3 years 1040s. This is recommended if your income is borderline for support requirements from what I've read. I checked the box on the form that I was only sending one year but also sent a copy of my 2008 return.

Employment letter is not required for USC as a sponsor but is also recommended (again I think it depends how close your income is to the base level). According to the I-485 instructions it's required only if a person is self-adjusting status based on an employment based visa. That being said, I included a copy of the one written at the end of Dec. for my (now) wife's visa interview. More is always better.

Buena suerte!
