I have been married to my husband for 2 1/2 yrs, we have a son. He is a US citizen and he has alcohol and drug related problems, he has never really wanted to get me my green card bc he tought i couldn't leave him and take my son if i would just live here without papers. He had been gettin more violent in the last few months and last week i left the residence with my son, he was drunk and he was wanting to argue and i just couldnt deal with it anymore, his abuse has been more verbally and mentally than physical although it was startin to happen to, and this would only happen if he was intoxicated. we never argued or he was never abusive when he's sober. I am not 100% sure yet that i will divorce him bc he's admitted he has a problem and is willin to get help for it, i have a protection order against him and i am stayin at a domestic violence shelter at the moment. i have a police report on domestic about the night that i left also. The shelter workers have sent the i-360 today and i just wanted to know what the process is bc i have no idea what to expect. i dont want him knowin that im gettin my green card yet, but if i get back together with him i want to be able to leave without problems if he starts drinking again and being abusive and controlling. I appreciate it all the help i can get.

Thanks!
