No. This makes you look silly for believing and jumping to conclusion with an unreliable source as Wiki. If all scientists trust Wikipedia, we would have lived in a world of fantasy.

No one claimed Greenland was ever a complete tropic-like island but Wiki says this which kinda makes you look silly.

>>The settlements, such as Brattahlið, thrived for centuries but disappeared some time in the 15th century, perhaps at the onset of the Little Ice Age.[10] Interpretation of ice core data suggests that between 800 and 1300 AD the regions around the fjords of southern Greenland experienced a mild climate, with trees[citation needed] and herbaceous plants growing and livestock being farmed. Barley was grown as a crop up to the 70th degree [11] What is verifiable is that the ice cores indicate Greenland has experienced dramatic temperature shifts many times over the past 100,000 years.[12]

Why don't you produce something a bit more weighty (if not interesting) than just your opinion.

I'll pile up the papers. You will need to read all of them. Real journals written by real scientists. There are more than thousands of papers written on Vikings, and their quests over the years.

If you would be willing to spend the time to read them instead of the Wiki pages, I'd give them to you.

You'd have to read them first. No fair just citing stuff you find on Google and pass on without reading or understanding yourself.

Sigh.

The Internet makes research way too easy for lazy people. Sometimes I miss the old days. Dewey decimal system and cabinets full of index cards at the library.

Where do you think all those redheaded stepchildren come from?

I read a few of them. As a matter of fact, I took a summer course in History that talks about Pre-America. There's this book written by a University of Maryland Professor (Harvard Graduate) who teaches Anthropology. Well, he talked about the vikings and the reason why they settled in Greenland is that it was safe from their enemies since most of the terrain is frozen. And, that is one of the big reason why they settled.

Of course, all that anthropological history is changing as more of the land is being exposed. Were any Vikings literate, or did they bring their Irish scribes with them when they ventured to the new world?

The way those Anthropologists work, Katheryn know more on this....they look for trails which leads to other settlements....With current technology, we'd be able to sniff out hearth location underneath the frozen tundra as well. But, so far, no evidence could be gathered that are further than the south and southwest part of Greenland.

Makes sense either way, that they would not venture too far inland, and cut themselves off completely from their supplies and transportation. Russian trappers along the west coast didn't venture that far inland either, and kept to the rivers for transportation when they did.

Nor, should you.

No, and nor should I? Well, I guess that depends on what one means by 'trust' exactly. However, no one person has the time to be personally involved in everything that is worth investigating, sometimes we have to trust that not everyone is out to get us.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .
