If anyone is tired of HIGH bills to call the Philippines they might want to try out 'PINOY TAWAG' .SIM-PLUS SERVICE... a phone service for your Family ..Friends...Fiancee :) that live in the Philipines. Sure alot have heard of it. So here is kind of a run down from someone using the service and what is involved !... LET ME SAY THIS IS A ONE WAY SERVICE. Kind of like a HOTLINE to the recipient in the p.i.(it is used from a SPECIFIC phone of your choice-to a recipient's phone with the SIM Chip they provide-and ONLY calls from YOUR COUNTRY to philippines is PROVIDED as Far as I know at the Moment)_ My Fiancee lives in Taguig City, and is in the 'Smart Communications' Coverage area. They offer landline service-(I subscribed to the SIM-PLUS..so it is that I discuss here -check site for landline Service's)....BUT now offer a special SIM chip for CELL PHONE SERVICE too. When you sign up they will perform a test call to the recipient to check out the Area coverage, then advise you of the best avaiable plan to that person. For me they offered a 49.95 (USD) a month with 5000 talk minutes per month. You will have to pay the initial cost for the SIM CARD , aquiring the LOCAL Access number for you to dial.. and first month is included in this amount of 115 (USD). This also includes a Hand delivery by Courier to your recipients address of the SIM CARD-You will need to provide the cell phone to put the chip in ( My fiancee had a phone-but I bought her another -just for use of this service) and it must be a GSM (not 3G) phone. also it can't be a DUAL Camera phone ...for some strange reason . Now you have to give them a phone number of the phone that you will be using here in the US to call the LOCAL ACCESS NUMBER-(this will will be explained in a minute :). So what I did was got a

'45 dollar a month' Straight Talk (cant beat this deal) card-(and I bought a phone too-but you dont have to) the Straight Talk allows for UNLIMITED INTERNET-TEXT-CALLING-NATIONWIDE ANY NETWORK-ANYTIME-NO CONTRACT-NO SIGN UP FEES-and you can get recurring BILL pay-so they just charge, your CC when on RENEWAL DATE. and this is THE BEST PART-STRAIGHT TALK- uses the VERIZON TOWERS-prefered service they offer to there VERIZON CONTRACT CUSTOMERS-so you get very good coverage-This is the number I gave to PINOY TAWAG for my phone to dial the access number. When You sign up you will be asked by PINOY TAWAG for the AREA you LIVE in. They will ask you if you want a LOCAL ACCESS NUMBER from your AREA CODE-OR let them use one of their NATION WIDE available NUMBERS to give you. Since I was away and could wait-I decided to tell them I wanted a LOCAL AREA CODE- ACCESS NUMBER. which takes a bit longer (week to 10 days for me-just decided to cover myself incase for later) for them to aquire it. Okay confused now  let me give it to you in a nutshell now that I have explained the procceedure ..hehe  I paid for chip and Service-They hand delivered SIM CARD to my Fiancee's house-She put in SIM CARD in her new phone-They test called her to make sure phone worked correctly-they then gave me a LOCAL access number(but if you have NATION WIDE coverage any state-side number from them will do-they have a bank of them)-I call that local access number here in the STATES ...and Viola    my Fiance's phone rings ( NO ACCESS CODES to type in..Or multiple numbers to dial Yeeeah ! ) in the Philippines -AND SO FAR IT IS WORKING FANTASTICALLY (hmmm is that a word  )very CLEAR (thanks i think also to good VERIZON Coverage here :)... but have had the service about a week now and it is GREAT !!!!! ...also I found the 'Pinoy Tawag' Customer Service Agents VERY Courteous-(but of course they are pinay-and pinay girls all always very polite hehehe) though i had to ask a few times for her to REPEAT something....hehehe.. would be GREAT if I was fluent in Tagalog ....but they try hard to please..and I got QUICK courteous reponses from my emails with state-side Sales Agents-(might go this route if you have trouble with understanding the Agent on their call up Customer Service...BUT all in all I am WELL pleased...LIKE~ I STATED this is best for say if you have Family or a Fiance in pi (especially Manila Area-but they do cover rual proviences) and you want to be able to save some money on calls as 5000 minutes a month is a heck of alot of talking-especially if you need those minutes to discuss say...medical exam appts, Legal paper work etc...or maybe you just miss her like me
