They really don't have to take your I-94 card. I mean that card is just to show and tell them that you came into the country legally and that you were inspected. You can't really guage your decision based on them taking your I-94 or not. There are plenty cases were it wasn't taken and the couples were approved and still got their green card. Best Wishes!

I filed a marriage based I-485 application and we had our interview in Long Island City, New York on August 29. We were handed a paper with a box checked "YOUR CASE IS BEING HELD FOR FILE REVIEW" at the end of the meeting. It seems like this was the best among the other check boxes including "YOUR CASE IS BEING HELD FOR BACKGROUND CHECKS" , "YOUR CASE IS BEING RESCHEDULED FOR ANOTHER INTERVIEW" and "A REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION IS MADE. I think the worst would be if another interview is being scheduled. IO took my I-94 but did not write anything on my passport like I-485 is pending. He just said this is the normal procedure before making a decision when we asked what this means.

It has been a week since the interview, but there is no update on my case as of yet. Most applicants are approved either on the spot or within a few days after the interview. I have no red flags in terms of my immigration status because I had kept my F-1 status until I filed AOS. I and my spouse have never married before and we have a relationship for more than 1.5 year. We provided evidence for ongoing relationship including photos, emails, text messages, and hotel receipts for our vacations. I met with him when I was in school and then moved to NYC when I got a job.
The only suspicious part of our marriage is that we don't live together yet. I work in New York City but he works in another state. I have applied several jobs and had interviews to relocate back and live together. I provided evidence regarding my job interviews including emails, online applications, and original travel reimbursement check for one of the interviews I went. IO took these evidence and put them into my folder. He asked a few tricky questions but we were both answer those questions appropriately and he didn't ask further. He was very polite and respectful and did not seem to be suspicious about anything because evidence we provided and answers we gave were consistent. He even said that "I want to approve you guys but you guys need to convince me" before I provided those evidence regarding my job interviews to show my intention to relocate back and live with him.
Because it has been a week since the interview, we have started to be worried a little bit. I know that NYC field offices are the busiest in the country and some people do not get approved on the spot for a variety of reasons.
My question is whether a case can be denied after the first interview without scheduling another one under these circumstances (I kept my F-1 status, no criminal background, our first marriage).
Can a case be denied without scheduling another interview?

Hi,
We just had our interview yesterday (4 27 2016), no hard questions, but I forgot to print out bank acct activity, yet we did show a proof of joint account, joint lease, insurance, car loan. He also asked for my undergraduate transcript which I dint bring but I showed him all the I20s I got from my undergraduate University and some honor awards as well.
I personally think it went OK.
Yet, at the end of the interview, he told us that we will need to wait to hear the decision, case will be reviewed by a supervisor, and a security check will be conducted, which the officer said that he does to everyone. And he didn't give us any receipt of any sort to show that we ve had our interview. I checked my case status online, still no update. What can I expect now?

My husband is us citizen and I'm here on f1 visa, currently working full time in Hartford.
