Just got told I'm being laid off from my job. Had the same job for 4½ years - the only job I've actually had since I got my EAD back in 2005! Don't understand why they're letting me go because I'm the only cross-functional, multi-purpose member of the admin team left since I've done all the admin functions in the firm from supporting the President to everything else - and have been specially trained in certain areas of the business - the other two who are left are singularly admins with no experience in all the areas I have experience in. Only difference is that I'm not sleeping with one of the MD's!

Sad and p!55ed off that they are not basing their decision on good business sense...

c'est la vie!

Just another statistic at the California unemployment office.

So if anyone knows of any good jobs at Executive Assistant left within 25 miles of Santa Ana - would love a heads-up!

4 January 2005 - Submitted applications for AOS and EAD - 12 May 2005 Conditional Permanent Residency Approved - interview in Santa Ana

4 June 2005 CPR 2-year Green Card arrives in mail

REMOVAL OF CONDITIONS - 3½ MONTHS

8 May 2007 - I-751 sent to CSC - 23 August 2007 - Approved - Card production ordered

30 August 2007 - 10 year Green Card received

K2 TIMELINE (Stayed behind in UK to finish school)

28 March 2005 - embassy interview & medical London - visa granted

Hang in there, I know how you feel. I was laid off from Disney last year, and I did my job in English and Spanish, PLUS I had taught myself how to do Graphic Design for those days they needed a skeleton crew (and I'm a Copy Editor). At the end of the day, it didn't matter. How the powers that be sort out who goes and who stays is anyone's guess anymore.

Good luck in your job search. It took me six months, but I got another one, and I hope you will, too.

Been there last October. I know how bad it sucks. :(

Don't let the situation get you down. And get looking now. I was very, very lucky. I was out of work for exactly one month. The opportunity that came my way meant a short notice relocation, but I was in no place to pick and choose, as there was nothing for me where I was. Construction is a tough business right now and it's not picking up as fast as some people think.

I was extremely lucky in that my other half worked with me tirelessly, never gave up on me and never let me sulk. Stay strong. Something will come along. :thumbs:
