Hey all, it's been a busy month since I last posted on VJ. Lots of catching up to do :)

I arrived in the US via Miami on January 21st, and from there caught a flight to Boston and was finally reunited with my bride, exactly one year after she first arrived in Venezuela. Initially, we stayed with her parents, but by early February we moved into our own apartment in downtown Greenfield, MA. Our new place is just a couple miles away from my in-laws', so we see them all the time. We're both big on family time, so that suits us just fine.

However... Sometime during my first week here, my wife lost her wallet, containing her Social Security card, driver's license... And my passport. Yeah. Not fun. We filed a police report and had her documents replaced, and I also notified the Venezuelan consulate of the loss of mine, which I plan on getting replaced as soon as I can drive out to Boston. We got my Welcome Notice in the mail on Feb. 7th, but I was essentially left without a way of proving my status in the country. So we made an Infopass appointment with USCIS and headed out to the Lawrence, MA field office, to see what could be done.

I explained the situation to the officer that saw us, and showed him a scan of my passport bio page (I had it done when the NVC misspelled my last name and needed to provide proof of the proper spelling) plus the Welcome Notice. All he told us was "looks like your card's about to be printed, so I'd just wait for it". He didn't seem too concerned, so we came back to Greenfield and waited. And waited. And waited :P

On Feb. 23rd I got a case status update saying production has been ordered on my GC. BOOYAH! But I got the same notice on the 25th. Same message, different date. Today I got an email saying an Approval Notice has been sent. And when I checked the mailbox this afternoon, I received a new Welcome Notice today! Is this normal? Can I be confident that my GC is on its way, or should I contact USCIS?

Confusedly yours,

Ricardo

Ricardo, I think we ended up with 2-3 Welcome notices - I won't go into details but my GC never arrived even after 6+ months of waiting (this was back in 2007).

I am sure this is not the case with you as I have seen people get their GCs within a month from entering on CR/IR visas. I am sure it's just a bit delayed due to the weather you had in East Coast.
