Who says it's a case of HATE?

Jeepers creepers, man. It's in the bloody OP. I was just reacting to what was posted, 'sall.

August 31 2009

On Friday, ThinkProgress reported that “tenthers” in Texas were set to hold a pro-secession rally in Austin this weekend. According to the Texas Observer, upwards of 200 people attended the rally, where one speaker declared, “We hate the United States!

It's more like irreconcilable differences.

Perhaps Jefferson voiced this best.

Believe me, dear Sir: there is not in the British empire a man who more cordially loves a union with Great Britain than I do. But, by the God that made me, I will cease to exist before I yield to a connection on such terms as the British Parliament propose; and in this, I think I speak the sentiments of America.

—Thomas Jefferson, November 29, 1775

I doubt were are there now but at some point the question might be asked by a majority..... -Just why are we yoked together?

Give it a rest. There were two hundred people at the rally. Two hundred. I agree that Texans are raised to be very pro Texas but we are also very pro American. I laughed when the New England states talked secession when Bush won a second time and even when Californy talked it. It is all talk as no state will ever secede ever. To try is laughable. Texas and the two front runners and one of them will be Governor are both RINO's. They are the same as Socialists and tax and spend as well as any Socialist alive. The one good thing is that we have a constitution that mandates no deficit spending ever. That means no bankruptcy ever and scrambling to find out how to pay and stay solvent like many states. We tend to just cut programs or don't increase or even don't start a new program unless the money is there or even tax which Texas is very adept at.

The truth of it is.... as time goes on States have less and less power to decide these things, The fed mandates and you have no option of "cutting or decreasing".

I suspect as the fed starts bailing out irresponsible States... with other states monies, this will throw gas on the smolders.

No. The truth is that if states have less power it is because we allow it. There are other ways to change this as we have done in the past and that is at the ballot box. We can change our government at any time we choose to do so. Of course it does take time but can and has in the past been done. Take for example the election that put Brown in office. The Dems had it all and smooth sailing. (actually still do) He got elected and the Dems lost their balls. These are politicians that have to be elected and they watch the prevailing winds and shift as it suits them. Yes they saw the rallies and meetings and poohed poohed them and tried to explain it all away but they were very nervous. Then Brown got elected then it hit them that there is a change. Now they are sitting back to see the landscape and be prepared to shift. They are stymied now and all because of the election of one man.

and that's the big key there that you mentioned. It's why the 'right' never seems to 'right' in many areas during election season and why the 'left' makes a shift from being 'left' to more 'center' during election season. It's all about getting elected and keeping those votes coming in, and then they go nuts (See: Democrats 2006, Republicans 2000, Republicans 1994)

Clinton was the master of this. He said to campaign to the right and shift to the left afterwards.

In all fairness to Clinton though, he may have said that, but he himself proved to be more 'center' than any other president in recent history. Especially if you look at him in an economic sense. Hell, the Clinton administration destroying Brooksley Born is one of the prime reasons we are in the mess we are today. He let his administration destroy her while letting Alan Greenspan get by with a completely unregulated derivitives market.
