figuring those states are the one's who have the 'elitist' mentality, I doubt it. They 'think' they know better than everyone, but seem to be the first ones to spend themselves into oblivion.

Relax, cowboy. Your state has a sizable 'knowledge economy' of its own, even though you likely play no part in it.

The Blue states are knowledge states and will do just fine. What the heck is the rest of the country going to do?

Seeing how California, Michigan, etc. is faring and the smart guys on Wall Street have screwed everything up...I'd say good riddance. We'll manage. ;)

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

On Friday, ThinkProgress reported that “tenthers” in Texas were set to hold a pro-secession rally in Austin this weekend. According to the Texas Observer, upwards of 200 people attended the rally, where one speaker declared, “We hate the United States!”

Doesn't anyone learn American history any longer? We played out this little drama. It took over 600,000 Union and Confederate losses, countless civilian losses and billions in damage to property, and decades of Reconstruction to see what happens when America pulls itself apart. Who are these people that actually want to repeat that experience?

Texas teabaggers. One of them may be Governor of that state soon.

Remember the Alamo.

A teabagger as governor?

Sure. Medina's a bonafide teabagger. She's polling at 20% (about) in 3-way Republican primary polls. Her winning the primary and the general isn't the likeliest outcome but it is possible.

And then you have Perry, an opportunist who jumped on the teabagger bandwagon as soon as he realized the sway those clowns hold in the GOP primary base. He jumped on and yelled secession, or has everyone forgotten?

On Primary Eve, Texas Race Seems Close No More

HOUSTON — It was supposed to be a clash of Republican titans — a vulnerable right-wing governor against a popular and more moderate United States senator — but as voters in Texas go to the polls Tuesday, the governor’s race looks anything but close, and Gov. Rick Perry has a hefty advantage in the polls.

While Ms. Medina appears in recent polls to be above 10 percent, few political strategists give her a chance of winning, though she may force a runoff between Mr. Perry and Ms. Hutchison. Several recent polls show Mr. Perry with 40 percent to 50 percent of the vote, while Ms. Hutchison has 20 percent to 30 percent.

On the Democratic side, former Mayor Bill White of Houston appeared to be coasting to an easy victory over his only challenger, Farouk Shami, a businessman who made a fortune in hair-care products.

Because Republicans have enjoyed a 10-point advantage in most statewide races since the mid-1990s, their primary has attracted the most attention.
