Hello everyone,

I was directed here by some very helpful friends. I have been looming and reading guidelines. Which I learned with my very first post ;) ALWAYS check the guidelines before asking a question.

Well I'll get right into it.

MY husband and I were married in Canada April 18th 2009 and have been together for 5 1/2 years. Life has been pretty all over the place for us as we were originally planning for my husband to come to canada as he was on a temp work permit and we were going to apply for a change of status in Canada. Well Much to our surprise life had another plan in store. Both of us lost our jobs and my husband had a better chance at getting a job back in the US. So we made the choice to move back to the states come September.

WE were a bit scared a bit unsure as to what we'd have to do in order for me to come to the states and be able to work and sustain a life with my husband. I guess the biggest uncertainty was how long my husband and I would have to be apart. Lets face it none of us like to be away from our significant others for an extended period of time. So I was a bit relieved to see that 'visits' would at least be allowed.

Well on Thursday my husband will be filing our first packet I-130 without this site I don't know if we'd get through it RFE free. SO many thanks to all of you who have shared your experiences this includes your pitfalls. What may have been a pain for you is serving an amazing purpose for more than one person. My husband and I still have a lot to learn. I have already been astonished at the amount of care this community has for new memebers. It really helps to know there are others out there going through this process and that we're generally not alone. Thank you in advance and please do not hesitate to message me. I welcome it with wide open arms to hear others stories and just in general a friendly 'Hi' :D.

I'll keep this updated as to what's going on with us. Our fingers are crossed and hoping to have a smooth file with the help of this community.

Goodluck to all of you on this journey. I wish it were as easy as our peers think it should be.

I can't tell you how many times I've heard "You're married why is it an issue? Shouldn't it be easy?" ... Oh do I EVER wish :D

It doesn't look like it from the OP's previous posts, hope she knows about direct filing in Canada!

Good luck

DCF in canada.. looks like a big thumbs down.. Care to divulge what that is?

My first post I posted not on here but in another forum on VJ the only responses I got was go for the CR-1 and READ THE GUIDLINES. So needless to say I did as I was told. If this isn't the case then other members shouldn't be so quick to say read the guidelines without considering each persons story. (this is not directed at any of you just some who originally submitted only that advice)

Wait I think some may have misread what I wrote. When I said move back to the states come September I meant September 2009. My husband has a full time job in Upstate NY he is a USC and I am looking to go to the US.

DCF isn't available if I'm the one going to the US correct? I just want to be sure incase I can do something that will quicken the process.

It's only available if you are both living in Canada.

Yes I did misread what you wrote, there is kind of a gap there between you two deciding to move to Canada and then deciding to move to the U.S. - the part where you both lost your jobs, I kind of read it as implying you were both living in Canada at that point and then he was moving back this coming September :)

Even if you were filing DCF, it would be for a CR1 visa - just the submission is different and a lot quicker.

Yeah I realize that when I re-read what I wrote. I should have explained better (with times). Again when I re-read it I would have thought the same thing you did. My apologies.

Thank you for the clarification. I read up on the DCF and was thinking "If only " lol
