Hi everybody!

I'm not even near of the AOS (just received my NOA1 in K1 visa) but i like to plan things so i don't have surprises or i'm not stressed to do all last minute.

Of course my fiance and I are expecting an smooth nice process so calculating dates based on that i would be in USA lots of months before college starts 2011 (fall). I would like to know if there's any problem if I apply for admission in College even before the wedding, it means before even apply for the AOS since the application date for college would be January 2011.

Then if i should let USCIS know i am applying for college but not intending to start before the AOS is done.

And i would like to know if once i have the AOS (that i guess would be before starting college in fall) i would be paying the college as a resident and if someone knows test requirements are the same as ppl born in USA to enter the college.

Hopefully i wrote it in a way everybody understands.

Thank you for your replies

God bless

in california you have to be a resident for one year before you can start paying resident cost, if you goto school before one year, you'll have to pay international student cost, which is alot of money...

** moving from "Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from Family Based Visas" to "Moving Here and Your New Life In America" as the prior forum is for questions regarding AOS specifically and this is more a question for AFTER AOS.**

In Miami you have to have your GC, and the same thing, to get the cost of in state tuition, most colleges request that you live in the city for at least a year and have proof of it. if not it will cost you around 3 times, as international or out of state tuition.

Applying to universities ahead of time is not a problem that I can see and I'm not sure there is any need to notify USCIS.

This varies by institution (University) - there doesn't seem to be a standard answer. You'll need to verify with each potential institution about their requirements.

Hello. I am the USC and my husband (from Germany and has a GC) was able to start school immediately after he received his GC. For his University, by marrying a state resident, you immediately receive the right to in-state tuition. He's in his 3rd semester now and it hasn't been a problem at all.
