MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Police said the mother of an elementary school student drank a 40 ounce bottle of malt liquor before brandishing a sword in her child's school. The woman, 32, apparently intended to confront the parents of another child who had been in a spitting match with her child the previous day.

According to court records, an employee at Riverview Elementary School in Memphis reported a drunk woman armed with a sword was running through the halls of the school and had threatened to cut her.

Officers who arrived on the scene retrieved a black cane that concealed the blade.

The woman charged with aggravated assault and having a weapon on school property.

I respect this woman for carrying a sword!

I think we should all carry swords and battles of gentlemanly means should take place when necessary!

I don't see any reason why 2 grown adults who can legally sign a contract, can't have a fight and/or duel if they so desire.

Now, granted it would have to be with fists or swords..... Guns is just, well... boring.

There's different contexts in which it has been used, but that's pretty much what it is. Be it for honor or be if a battle against two disagreeing individuals.

For reasons that are obvious the law does not accomodate such methods of settling differences, it would be anathama to the principals that underpin the US legal system. That doesn't mean that people don't go ahead and beat each other up nor does it mean that every time two people go at it their activities reach the notice of the legal system.

Yes, and I told my sister it was either the bottle of Southern Comfort OR the sword... NOT ... both and defiinetly no at school.... and I also instructed her NEVER to use it after watching The Highlander movies!!! Guess DCF will be payin her another visit!!! Damn hillbilly family...
