Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knows if your spouse is required to buy a one-way ticket with their new visa to come to the U.S. for the first time. We have not been given our visa but like from where I live it's about $4000 for a one way ticket, that's double the cost of a round trip.

Do you know if there is anything in the "rules" that says you have to buy a one way ticket for a spouse?

Thanks.

Nope. You can buy a round trip ticket and just never use the second ticket. That's what my fiance did to come here on his k1 visa. Much cheaper way to go.

Try looking at ( calling ) Delta and Eremites directly. Delta usually comes up with terrible prices online because the scammers tend to want tickets as proof they are going to show up for their victims. The make the prices look really bad online but if you call you will get something reasonable ( and Delta flys direct Lagos to Atlanta ) Vayamia is the best site to check out many at once.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Thank you all - relieved to know we can buy a round trip, who on earth would be a one way, and it seems like it should be cheaper, how odd. LOL. Thanks also for the tips on contacting Delta and Emirites.

Appreciate it!

Hello,

If you can i would go with delta because they have a direct flight to the US......With other stops you have to pay for other travel visas just for passing through and at any time that your so goes through a check point with imigration they can send him back to nigeria with out him ever getting here to the states...

rules? eh - nothing printed up in 9FAM. (to the best o my knowledge. YMMV, greatly)

a CBP goon MIGHT look into it, at POE, but #######? they won't have time to scrutinize you about it.

If asked, suggest you say back, "This was the cheapest way to get here - we're spending all spare monies on the honeymoon".

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Go with roundtrip it is always cheaper. You can also try Qatar airlines , my husband used them. He tickets was 1300 and he bought it about 2 days before he left . he did have a layover in Qatar no visa was required.

What state is your spouse flying too? That seems awfully expensive.
