"Mart has worked here since...., he is employed full time with a base salary of..." is sufficient. Better yet, draft the letter yourself and take it to them to print on letterhead.

My HR guy was like, "type it up and email it to me, I'll print it and sign it for you."

It looked almost exactly like what Gary typed above.

hi :) We corresponded in Russian. We printed out a BUNCH of emails, plus brought birthday cards and etc, all in Russian. Her interview was in Russian too. Besides some direct questions, no problems (we also sent copies of this stuff with the petition, untranslated).

Alright, last attempt to get this back on track before we get to page 3 and to an off-topic land forever.

Any other Russian-speaking couples out there with such experience in Kiev/Moscow?

If not, then I'll be the first one steering this thread to PIE!!!

Mind if I ask you what sorts of questions were asked?

I expect something along the lines of:

- When is his birthday

- Where does he live

- What does he do for a living

There's not much info about Kiev here. Mostly people say there were 1-2 questions or no questions at all.

Mostly, if there are questions, it's about kids and previous marriages (neither of which applies to us)

That's about what my wife was asked in Moscow. Nothing too serious. I don't think they "dig" too hard as long as there are no red flags. More red flags, more intense interrogation.

I don't think we have any red flags (really nothing I can think of).

We've been going over some questions, she knows every little thing we can think of (how many miles away do my parents live, name of my cat, sister, niece, mother, father, etc).

When it comes closer to interview I'll still be bugging people for Kiev interview questions :-P

I can't give any specific question advice as we were not asked any questions. It would seem to me that in a genuine relationship your normal communication produces the answers to any questions that would be asked. Kiev is not noted for asking "trick" questions and your case is very "clean", no previous marriages, etc. The ones I have heard from Kiev in such cases are of the "How did you meet?" sort or the "How many times has he visited" sort.

Of course, preparation is not a bad thing and you can depend on a few sleepless nights before the interivew...particularly the night before, even though afterwards you will think "That was stupid". I am not going to tell you not to be nervous, you WILL be. But it is just part of the process. You will sleep REAL good afterwards.

Yeah, I'm not even going to go over the questions "how did you meet" with her. She's gonna tell exactly how we met, if she's asked that, and it's going to be the truth. Same thing is with "how many times has he visited" - Um....never lol

I think the only thing that got my wife tripped up a little was in a picture I'd sent to her I was holding my nephew on my lap. They asked her first if I had a son and what my son's name was. She told them it wasn't my son but my nephew and she didn't know his name.

They didn't seem to really care though as she got the visa. Just make sure if you send her pictures or if she has pictures that she knows who's in the pics. (And knows their names!)
