Hello all. I'm a US citizen in the US Armed Forces-Active Duty.

I have been with my girlfriend, now fiance, for 3 years. We met in high school. She is in the US via tourist visa, and by saying she went to school with me, you can tell she's living here in the States currently.

I want to know what the marriage process is going to be like?

Are we going to be thoroughly questioned?

Is she gonna have to go back to Mexico for a while before we can get married?

Will we get screwed over if they know she lives/went to school here?

Will she automatically be able to live/work here?

Any input plz and especially if you went through the same deal with a Mexican national?

Thank you in advance

Hello 'UNKNOWN' and welcome to the VJ forums.

I would strongly suggest that you re-post your question in the forum called 'K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures' those guys are the experts and I am sure that they will be able to answer all your questions and concerns in great detail, but your post will be overlooked in this forum as it is mainly meant for just introducing your self. So just follow my advice, post away, and good luck.

Actually in his situation the AOS forum for VWP/Tourist/Student visas would be much more helpful. She is already here, according to his post. (might like to carefully add that in general NO ONE is an expert here on VJ)

Are we going to be thoroughly questioned?

very possibly

Is she gonna have to go back to Mexico for a while before we can get married?

no

Will we get screwed over if they know she lives/went to school here?

good question for a lawyer. i won't (openly) advocate lying but do understand that the truth isn't always the best option. consult an attorney. there are paths open to you either way, you need to know the pros and cons of each before proceeding.

Will she automatically be able to live/work here?

she is already "living" here.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.
