Hi! I am a newbie here...I would like to ask some questions about this I-130 thingy.....

I am a filipina married to a US Military who is now stationed in Okinawa, Japan. My I-130 was filed in the US by my mother in law, i just e-mailed her yesterday the DS3032 as her as my "Choice of Agent". I am in the Philippines right now together with our 1 year old daughter ( a US Passport holder already). We will be leaving here by May to stay with my husband in Okinawa. His command sponsorship application was already approved and he got extended for 1 year, so we will be staying in Okinawa until early of 2011. Me and my daughter was already enrolled in DEERS, i got my military dependent I'D already and TRI-CARE ( We're in Okinawa last Nov-Jan). Now my question is:

1. Can my application for I-130 (future interviews, medical etc..etc..)be transferred/continued in the USE-Japan? or

2. Do i have to go back to the Philippines for the interviews, medical & wait until the visa arrive.

I am in need of help/suggestions...Thank you....

1. the interview can be in Japan. you betcha. Can get this changed up now, at NVC. Also will be a 'timing' issue - suggest that you are 'not so fast' with sending things to NVC, so that NVC processing is finished around end of May, 2010.

2. NO

There's a 'next step' for now, at NVC.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Hi Darnell, thank you for the info. i guess We might be slowing down sending some papers at the NVC this time. It's kinda expensive if we're already in Japan then go back to PI to attend the paperworks at USE-Manila.

on 2nd thought -

you might want to rethink a bit, a lot, actually.

1. you are allowed to live on base without a USA visa OR greencard, in Japan.

2. once the visa is approved in Japan, you have 6 months to USE IT to travel to USA.

3. you have 1 year to 'get things' to NVC, during NVC processing.

4. takes 2 to 3 months from 'NVC OUT' to 'INTERVIEW DAY'

so, with all of those 'calendar' things above, I suggest you rethink, map it all out on a calendar, try to aim for INTERVIEW DATE

in Japan sometime in March or April, 2011. Then you will have a VISA, no worries for 'moving to USA' with your husband, after the rotation.

Seriously, get a calendar, work it all backwards, see how much 'stall time' you want to do at NVC.

GOOD LUCK !
