Hi! I am a newbie here...I would like to ask some questions about this I-130 thingy.....

I am a filipina married to a US Military who is now stationed in Okinawa, Japan. My I-130 was filed in the US by my mother in law, i just e-mailed her yesterday the DS3032 as her as my "Choice of Agent". I am in the Philippines right now together with our 1 year old daughter ( a US Passport holder already). We will be leaving here by May to stay with my husband in Okinawa. His command sponsorship application was already approved and he got extended for 1 year, so we will be staying in Okinawa until early of 2011. Me and my daughter was already enrolled in DEERS, i got my military dependent I'D already and TRI-CARE ( We're in Okinawa last Nov-Jan). Now my question is:

1. Can my application for I-130 (future interviews, medical etc..etc..)be transferred/continued in the USE-Japan? or

2. Do i have to go back to the Philippines for the interviews, medical & wait until the visa arrive.

I am in need of help/suggestions...Thank you....

Hmm why didnt he just apply for a visa for japan (you stay there with him) and then apply for the I-130 through the US Embassy in japan...I am assuming he would have been able to DCF. I havent read much on this, but I know that if i would have stayed in korea with my now wife....I would have just got her visa extended there and applied for the spouse visa. Being overseas your husband can get the case expedited and all.

I would have your husband call the military helpline and see what they say. It's free and he can call from DSN...just have him dial 809-463-3376 (no 1 in front of it) and then 1-877-247-4645 (1-877-CIS-4MIL )

1. Why he didn't just apply for a visa in Japan? - because his stay in Okinawa supposed to end this March, new station was in New Mexico without US. And he don't want to leave Oki without us. We didn't stay yet in Japan we're still here in the Philippines( our schedule to leave PI-JP will be on May). And he was a bit busy last year, just came from a 6 months deployment in iraq, 1 month vacation here, attending trainings and schooling, promotion and others in the military. That's why mother in law presented that she'll be the one to process everything about the petition to lighten up some paperwork's in my husbands behalf. Nobody suggested us before about this expedited thing in the military. My husband was also busy preparing our papers at the base...

2. I think it's already too late if we process the papers in Japan for DCF because the papers are now in process at the NVC through USCIS. By the way thank you so much about the info re this military helpline...
