I was born and raised Catholic. My husband has no religion but believes that there is a Supreme Being. He'd accompany me whenever I'd go to Mass then would end up dissecting everything he had heard.

I used to go to Mass at least once each week. In fact, I was a catechist during my teenage years. I also served as a lector in Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral for years. However, the parish in our locale here is terrible. On the second Sunday of January, the lay president went to the lectern to "encourage" parishioners to "support the parish." After he said that what they collected in 2009 is lower by $ 60, 000 compared to 2008 blah blah blah, I decided not to return there anymore.

The Catholic Church doesn't impose tithing in real sense. Yet, that lay president said that the parish didn't reach the amount that was set by the L.A. archdiocese. NONSENSICAL! ABSURD!
