They cross party lines even after they're seated in Congress! Ever heard of a fella called Arlen Specter, Steve?

Politics is a hardball sport. If you wanna cry about the unfairness of it all, I suggest a non contact pastime. Maybe pat-a-cake.

 Point taken. Although lets be honest, Arlen Specter's party change brought forth a lot of anger from his former party. In his case though, he was motivated by his convictions, whereas Lieberman's choice seemed opportunistic. Specter took a hit and risked a lot...while Lieberman only stood to gain from his change, it least as a direct consequence.

I don't know...it just seems unfair to the party they were running under, especially considering the amount of money spent on elections these days.

You know what's unfair? Depriving the electorate of a candidate they actually prefer to vote for, and are prepared to elect with a majority. That's unfair.

Come on Steve! Specter switched because he knew that the RWNs in PA had the knives out for him in the GOP primary, and he was not going to survive to compete in the General. It had nothing to do with principles and EVERYTHING to do with politics. Not that there's anything wrong with that! I thing Specter did a reasonable thing, and I think Lieberman did too. It seems hypocritical to me that you just happen to attack the Democrat who switched while praising the Republican who did approximately the same thing. It's just politics, Steve. The game is played with sharp elbows.

Ok, you guys win. I'm going to flog myself for my insolence. Good night, mi amigos.

Good night Steve. No hard feelings. You are good peoples.

The difference is, Arlen came BACK to your party, so he's A-ok in Steven-partisanland

Whoah! :o

That was my first reaction when I saw this thread title too...

But then I felt happy! I am not good at actually paying attention to everything Crist has done lately here in Florida but I like him and have liked him for a long time. I plan to register Independent myself(I still keep forgetting to change that) and if he might actually do that too, to me shows why I have liked him. If more people registered I it would send a message to both parties.

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)
