Satellite and cable are pissing me off for a variety of reasons, so I'm looking to go the HTPC route. However, I'm finding that streaming HD content is very, VERY hard to come by. Even Netflix does not stream their HD content directly to a PC as far as I can see. Does anyone have a good list of HD content (TV shows, etc) available on the internet?

I'd like to know too. bump

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

I'm actually considering a purchase of a bluray player that will also allow me to connect to Netflix and watch their online content in HD. Looks like I can do that for under $200. That seems like a good deal if I pair that with over-the-air TV. It's a shame that HD content is not readily available on the net for free though. Even Hulu, which claims to have a decent-sized HD gallery had almost nothing as of last night. It's clear that Netflix only streams their HD content to approved set-top boxes. Lame. Oh well, I guess a bluray player is a good investment anyway. If no one has anything to say about free online HD content, surely someone on VJ is using a set-top box to watch Netflix HD content. If so, what is your opinion on the HD selection & quality? Also what about the bluray selection & shipping time on Netflix?

Yes, I'm aware that a good broadband connection is required to stream HD. We have ordered 15 Mbps down, 2 Mbps up fiber service from our local telecom, so that's not a problem. Now, if there was some HD to stream for free, that would be great. It doesn't look that way, so, Netflix experience anyone?

Over here in Boston, we have a contract $89 gets me HD TV, internet, and phone. It blew comcast services out of Boston, literally.

Anything is cheaper than cable, no surprise there. Our local telecom claims they can give us 15/2 with local phone service for $35/month. Verizon charges $55 for a comparable service w/ no phone service at all it appears.
