That isn't it, Susita. Perhaps the box is dirty or perhaps she has a UTI. Perhaps she is unhappy. Perhaps some furniture has been changed or her food has changed.

I will take her if you spay her and bring her to me. I have no way to get to you.

Box Clean - check. Furniture the same - check. Food - her favorite, the little piggly wiggly loves it. UTI - not sure, but she doesn't look or act uncomfortable or unusual to me, and I'm with her all day.

What I'm thinking is that she needs to be fixed. We weren't planning on spaying her, my other cat is neutered, but maybe she's in heat? I'm going to try and get her to the vet next week.

Luis thinks that it's because we usually let the cats go outside but there is snow on the ground and when we open the door they don't want to go because of it. She could be ticked that now she has to use the litterbox with Mr. Chubby Man Cat all the time.

Another suggestion is get 2 litter boxes, if possible.

Not enough space. Plus this litterbox is the cadillac of litterboxes they have nothing to complain about, plus it gets clean at least once a day, normally twice.

I'm thinking it's the snow like Luis said. She used to go in and out as she pleased and probably tinkled outside.

It could also be that something has frightened her while in the box - does the other cat jump at her or chase her? If she has been declawed the sand could be very painful on her paws. Sometimes that never goes away and they always have sore paws (it is a terrible type of surgery to do - basically it amputates their toes). If the sides of the box are too high she may have trouble getting in or out. If it is a covered box she may not like the cover -especially if she has been attacked by the other cat 'coming out'. Also, you will need to clean the spot that she is using with enzymatic cleaners - regular household cleaners don't get rid of the discreet pheromone smell that cats still recognize from the urine. As mentioned above, she may have a urinary tract infection as well - and yes, you definitely want her to be spayed if she isn't already. Try setting up a second litter box - you should have at least one for each cat - and see if that helps.

Also, is she actually going outside of the box or is she perhaps standing while using the box and the urine is going over the edge of the box to the floor outside? I have one who does that and I've actually got one of those high-sided plastic storage tubs to use as a litter box instead as regular litter boxes don't reach up high enough. That is considered territorial marking if that is what she is doing.

She's peeing RIGHT in front of the box, but far enough away that she has to actually get all the way out. It's also by the door, so that's why I was thinking maybe because she can't get outside due to the snow.

True, but it depends on what she's smelling. As you suggested she might be smelling Susita, because cats can smell hormonal changes even if we can't. Of course, there is that other possibly that I mentioned.
