Yeah it would have gone down like a sack of $hit, but it at least would show that the guy had balls - and actually wanted to enact something that would radically change the landscape.

Instead he went all Tony Blair.

Grabbing your balls and yelling hoo-ah doesn't help much if you can't get anything done. There is actually still a good chance of something getting done here.

Depends on how talented Obama is and whether he cares more about doing a good job for the country, as opposed to trying to polish his public image. So far every piece of major legislation he has put through has been watered down into insignificance. It doesn't bode terribly well for healthcare reform.

If you're interested in learning details of the senate bill, follow the discussions on dailykos. It's too much to go into on this forum but the info is all there. It's not insignificant. Not by a long shot.

I don't think you'd have found much support for full nationalization, even in the Democratic party. My preferred solution has always been single-payer but where the actual providers of care are not government employees. I.E. the Canada model and not the UK model.

Australia and Canada have a similar Medicare system, however, state governments also operate their own hospitals and coexist with private hospitals.

This is interesting.

Especially with some half-cut shitheel trolling the boards. Yeah I will check it out.

Nearly missed that, in this example, securing liberty in terms of being able to live free of corporate tyranny, from profit driven insurance companies, and be able to ensure this freedom is accessible by all Americans.

Exactly, but if you look at it from the rights perspective this could mean hey let’s put a hold on all this excessive spending thus securing a little liberty for our posterity.

I guess it just depends on how you look at it huh? If you show this to a bunch of left leaning folks the first thing they will pick out is the part about "promoting the general welfare" just as you did. If you show it to right leaning folks they might pick out the part about "insuring domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense" you know like going to war with those who declared wars on us with their acts of terrorism.

That’s the great thing about the constitution it’s a bunch of great ideas and we can interpret them how we want.

Lets work with these ideas

I'm actually glad I stumbled on that as it proves my point regarding which system (approach) is most cost effective at delivering the goods. Can you imagine Japan, Australia and Sweden spent as much as us (per Capita)? They'd live until they're 105..

You would actually list the DailyKos as being something credible. The people on the website are pure garbage, trash, etc. and don't deserve the breathe the same air.

Now if they would change there policies and stop being liberal cunts who refuse to debate and ban anyone who dares to think differently than their robotic nature, I will withdraw that statement.

Nobody pay's more for more mediocre care than we do. We have some of the best medical care out there, but it is not available to the biggest whiners on this forum, any more than the fabulous wealth of the folks who tell them what to think. Go figure again...

and what's the US population versus those other nations. How many of them combined would it take to equal the US? Hmmmmmm.

It does make a difference and if we weren't so 'corporate' driven today and were more manufacturing driven, it'd probably be a lot lower...

Granted, as I've said, there are too many factors when it comes to breaking down the cost of health care. #1 cause of costs isn't business though, it's government policy/over-regulation.
