Hello,

Im filling out the affidavit of support for my fiancée for her interview. on the instructions it ask for bank statements of when the account was opened total deposits and current account balance. im a little confused.

i went to the bank and go a print out of my business account and personal account and savings account.

so my question is.. do they want me to get a letter from an employee from the bank? Or will just the print outs from the bank satisfy this.

If you are not using the assets ($$) in your account(s) to make up for a shortfall in income (to meet the minimum), you don't need a letter from your bank, nor any print-outs/statements.

well i made $20,000 on tax returns this year.. so im using my bank account and my house to make up for the additnal needed income. my house is estimated valued at $200,000 and i have $10,000 in the bank.

i have bank statements but do i need someone from the bank to write a letter to be able to use the amount in my bank?

thanks. godbless.

Many members have posted questions similar to this because bank officers will not write the letters. People usually simply gather 12 months of statements for the CO to review. You can go a little further and calculate the numbers for the CO by adding your total deposits for the past year, adding withdrawls, calculate the average, and showing the current total is easy. Maybe the average is too much.

If your income was sufficient you do not need to go through any of this but I think you will need the house also. I do not think the 10,000 is enough.

Is the house 200,000 free and clear after encumberances meaning mortgage, second mortgage, liens, etc...They want to know the equity, basically value of house minus amounts owed against house.

To answer your question, NO, you do not need a letter form the bank.

Good luck.

although you can attach bank print outs to your petition, a certification from your bank is still the best summary (usually signed by the bank manager) of your accounts w/them as it will show exactly the above information being asked on the affidavit of support form
