There is a school of thought that with todays sensitivity to civilian casualties, a well-armed and well-organized guerilla group that uses civilian populations as its cover simply can not be beaten. Do you buy that?

Interesting theory. I think they should suppress the details of civilian casualties,

like the Pentagon did in Iraq. How is it that everyone knows exactly how many

civilians died in Lebanon, but no-one has an exact figure for Iraq? 10,000? 100,000?

No-one really knows. Unfortunately Israel is always under the microscope so they

can't get away with the same things America can, but they should work on that.

Way too much info comes out of Iraq. Give the media -zero- visibility during war, propogandise till you run out of propoganda funding, win the damn war and then write your own history. That's always how it's been done and that's always how it's been won.

Hmmmm... Not in the last 50 years. Technology and freer access to information doesn't justify resorting to barbarism and throwing all pretense of morality out the window. Its a rather bizarre argument to suggest that those technologies haven't been beneficial to society in general.

Though I can see why some would find it a comfort to sit at their breakfast tables and not read about massive genocide in Rwanda, Somalia and the Balkans.

Its little different to that anecdote about "if a tree falls over in the forest does it make a sound". Who's to know - but the tree still fell over, whether someone heard it or not.

While the deaths only increase underlying resentments. Much as I sympathise with them, Israel have allowed themselves to be manipulated into this position.

Yeah I have been thinking that for some time, by pulling out all the physical stops they are giving them what they want - falling out with the international community, more support on their home ground. I'm sure that I would find it increadibly hard to stay nutral if my house and family had been flattened.

I don't know about the US, I've been hearing a lot of people say here how the media reports are too in favour of the Israelis but I don't think that's true. I bet if I went into work and questioned people about it they'd say "Israel is wrong for doing what it is doing" and if I was to ask how it started, they would probably stutter and not actually know.

Not just with this conflict but British media as a whole, I am really really sick of their drama stories. I want unedited bare facts, not some reporter's attempt at amature dramatics. Their coverage of 9/11, with their descriptive emotive stories just plays more and more to what terrorists wanted. Same with Bigley, the London bombings. In their job to let the public know what's going on around the world, for myself, *I* will decide what is right or wrong.
