Sad but at least she was doing what she loved and she knew the risks. Funny how you very rarely hear about Orcas attacking people in the wild. Too cold in the water where they live for people to enjoy water sports?

The wild animals must not be captured for entertainment who ever does assumes the risks, it is not the animals fault

My husband and I had annual passes to Seaworld for more than 3 years. We loved the Shamu show. I just loved seeing the interaction with the whales and the trainers - it was amazing how connected they seemed sometimes. I remember this trainer (always refered to her as "the blonde one") and am shocked and saddened to see that she died.

The bull whale, Tillikum, is the one that they use to do the splashing of the crowd because of his size. He was a beast - literally. He would jump out of the water and douse the crowd. It is a tragedy to see that this happened, but I do know this, she died doing what she loved.

Sea World defends the use of the Orcas for entertainment to raise awareness, but I'm not impressed. I want to see them train a Great White shark to give rides and let the audience pet it.

Whales literally swim hundreds of miles every day. Confining one in a small aquarium is like having a Greyhound in a small kennel without ever having the chance to stretch his legs again. It's animal abuse, plain and simple. I can't blame the whale for going gaga after so many years of confinement and the requirement to perform like a circus monkey for the heartless humans who abuse him for their entertainment.

Fact is, many, if not most, people don't give a rat's #### about animals' welfare. They use them for whatever they like: entertainment or food.
