Del Taco in SoCal has fries...

They didn't prior to 1998 or somewhere around there when they merged with another chain and basically combined their menus.

I like Del Taco! When I spent a bit of time in SoCal back in 2001 I had Del Taco quite often. I used to get their two chicken soft tacos and fries combo...it was ridiculously cheap and tasty, to MY taste buds at least.

A more "authentic" chain in SoCal is Rubios...they were good too.

Sorry Wyatt, Rubios is not authentic. It is an interpretation of Baja California styled mexican food. They are better than taco bell, but that's not saying much.

If you want authentic Mexican food and you insist upon some sort of chain, Campos Tacos, or King Taco are the best.

Yeah, I really WAS meaning it relative to Taco Bell. I don't think there are any chain fast food joints that are truly authentic. Never tried King Taco or Campos Tacos though... There was one time I was visiting a friend in Hollywood and he took me to a GREAT Cuban restaurant a little South of there. Can't remember the name of it. It was a very unassuming place...nothing to look at...but DAMN the food was good.

As for Chick-Fil-A, my wife has mentioned it a few times, but I haven't tried it yet. Once I've relocated, I'm sure I will.

Arby's DOES get a bad rep, but I honestly like their roast beef better than any deli-style roast beef I've ever eaten. I mean, I'd never get a roast beef sub from Subway, but an Arby's sandwich with a bit of horsey sauce...mmmm. I have a feeling I'll be hitting an Arby's or three when I drive to D.C. :P

I was waiting for someone to mention Chick-Fil-A. When we were in Orlando we ate there 4 times in 5 days! It is SO GOOD.

Haha nice.

I love their food and their service. Whenever they wait on you they always say "My pleasure" and they really train their employees to have the best manners. I've received coupons for free food when I had to wait more than a few minutes. Also, they give scholarships to their student employees, and are closed on Sundays so employees have a family day once a week. :)

Shhh, don't tell people that these people have the best manners because the company is very religious

lol.

Seriously, I love Chick-Fil-A though.... Well, except for the fact that they are closed on Sundays :(

They do have great manners and probably one of the best customer service driven food chains out there. I don't think I've ever not been greeted with a smile. It's a complete 360 from what you get a McDonalds (the company that advertises smiles being free.. HA!).

Oh and since we are on the thread of fries: Waffle Fries > most others!!! :)

Chik-Fil-A doesnt' do so well here in Southern California. There is one near where I live, but taht is about the only one i've ever seen. I really didn't know that they were religious and closed on sundays. My wife and I seem to go to the mall on sunday by coincidence. I thought it had been closed for like 6 months then it reopened a month ago when we were there on a friday.

Every time I saw a Hamburger Hamlet down there I used to chuckle. I mean, I know a hamlet is like a small house...but I just think of Hamlet, and the combination of hamburger and Hamlet, Prince of Denmark amuses me.

Well for fast food quality burgers and fries nothin beats a In n Out Burger double double with fries and a shake!

All fresh ingredients and you can order as many patties as you want on the burger.

there is a place in EL Monte called Big D's, my hubby introduced me to this place a few weeks ago,, and in my opinion I think they are slightly better then In and Out... it is basically the same type of burger...

as for Chik-Fil-A burgers they are really good but way to small and expensive...

oh and my hubby says King Taco isn't that great.... he says if you want a good Mexican food experience you have to find a good Mexican meat market... they sually sell tacos and stuff there

Thats why I said that wtih the caveat of "if you insist on going to a chain". If i was gonna get authentic, i'd either go to boyle heights, or one of those catering trucks :P

Arby's has changed up their menu a bit - I'm pleasantly surprised with it. Can't eat any of it, these days cause of the diet, but hei.

What's with Americans and poutine anyways?

Bill thinks its gross. How can you think poutine is gross?! It's amazing! And his parents think the concept is "weird" I'll show them weird... geez :P

It's the Beef Gravy thing....

I think poutine is awesome... Yvonne has to find it with vegetarian mushroom gravy, but will nibble from time to time.

Mmm I miss New York Fries.

... and NYF is where I most often get it, since I can snag it at the Toronto Eaton Centre while I'm waiting for Yvo to finish up at work. :)

Poutine can be found worldwide.

You just gotta look a bit, each time you come to a new city.

I'm convinced it's spread around so much, because of Crying Canadiens missing the stuff so much -

someone decides to open a Poutine Palace, drawing in the displaced Canadiens and,

in my case, converting a cranky curmudgeon Texan. (Yay Canada ! Go Poutine ! )

I even found a poutine place in Houston.

But it's off the diet, for now.

Missing Poutine? Quit yer b|tching, Do a google search on

'poutine <<your city name here>> '

and you'll find a poutine purveyor, you betcha !

Now, it may be underground

and they might make it only one day a week

(cheese curds takes time to make, la)

but it's out there - if only you would look !

Now then, if yer a mis-placed /immigrated Canadien, and you've found a poutine palace in yer city -

PLEASE !!! I BEG OF YOU !!!

Put the address and phone number in 'my story' under yer profile. Helps the other 'mis-placed / immigrated' Canadiens, each and every time.
