Just wanted to blow off some steam, spent so much time going over K-3 guides, memorized them, had dreams about them, read hints about which pins to use when sending the paperwork to USCIS, sent it all in. I know that CR-1 is a superior visa, but went for K-3 because it did have shorter processing time. For my purposes (fully understanding that I am being completely irrational) I would go for K-3 even if there was a week difference in processing times. In the 8 month period, my hubby and I have been together for 25 days for which I exhausted my PTO and took some unpaid time off.....

Now I am reading CR-1 guides, learning about new documents that I will have to submit to NVC instead of him bringing it to the consulate, trying to memorize the NVC Shortcuts and overall making myself go crazy....

For all of you on this forum, you are a support network, and I wanted to thank everyone for being so helpful, the only thing that keeps me sane is reading this forum, and realizing that I am not alone in this boat.... and then waiting, and waiting, and waiting.....

Don't worry about it. When all this is over, you will see how better the Cr1 is than the K3.

I know it seems very confusing the NVC shortcut, but believe me, it's not that bad.

Hope you receive your NOA2 soon, and you can count on us to help you go through the NVC stage.

Good luck =)

You are definitely not alone! I remember looking at all the paperwork and thinking to myself I will never get thru it, but I did (with help from this site and its wonderful participants) we are here for you! PM me and I would be happy to give you my email address so you can ask me any questions. Come on NOA2~~

Thank you both for words of encouragement. On the bright side, I have something to occupy myself with as the paperwork I need to fill out multiplied in quantity. Waiting, without being able to do anything while realizing it's all in the hands of people who have never seen you and your SO together is the hardest part.....

It is a blessing in disguise, trust me. It is not worth your time and money to file for a K3 when there isn't much difference in processing time. Now, if the difference was a huge gap like 3, 5, or even 10 months then yes, bummer. But it is not a big deal. On top of that, your husband will be getting his green card and SS card a few weeks after he arrives which means he can go out and get his DL whenever he wants, he can get a job right away, he can travel freely outside the US and not worry about what he needs to re-enter, etc. AND, you will be saving a lot more money.

So, there is nothing negative about having to wait a week or so more for a CR1. Not a thing.

I'm definitely trying to concentrate on the positive side. I know once I-130 gets approved, my spirits will be higher. So I'm just checking my email 10 times a day to see if I have the magic letter yet. Meanwhile I'm familiarizing myself with NVC process, at least I feel that I could speed that one along. Thank you for your support, waiting is the hardest part about the whole process.

When i started studying the NVC Processing Stuff for an I-130 -

I dug out some greenbar computer paper and some blue crayon.

I'd draw flowcharts and stuff, then do it all again, at least once a week.

Now with NVC Electronic Processing for China, it's a bit different, even when mimicing the paper process.

Whatever yer doing - I'm a fan of greenbar paper and a crayon. It absolutely helped me, to solidify the process in my heid.

PS - are you really going through Armenia ?

I am looking at other members timelines to memorize what goes when. Read the shortcuts, and got a headache, now reading them again. Drawing a chart sounds like a great idea, would help to know what's coming next and what I should expect. I am also learning that there is no such thing as getting ahead of yourself in this process, unless sending something to NVC without them asking. It's good to have everything prepared. I filled out all the NVC forms already and have them ready to go, just missing original documents, which I was thinking of asking my hubby to send to me once I receive the approval for I-130.

Yes I'm going through Armenia, and as far as I could tell (checked the NVC) the embassy is an appointment post, so I guess that means more documents for me to send to them.

Also, remember that the CSC is a lot faster than the VSC and they usually approve these kind of petitions within 3-5 months or so. So that's a good thing.

Drawing a chart sounds like a great idea, would help to know what's coming next and what I should expect.

I also use it when my relatives ask me, face to face, 'what's going on? '

I pull out the greenbar (thankfully, it's portable)

spread it out over the table -

close my eyes, and put my finger down (we're here ! )

they've gotten used to the chart and dramatics now, it's fun !!

:crying: I decided that I could live with 3 months time frame, now the only thing left is communicating this to USCIS so that there are no delays :) Me and my Hubby both bought calendars and are crossing out each day that passes. I am very happy at this point that they don't make hourly calendars, because I would run out and buy those too.....
